Hello all. I havent read too much in the forums about this bike, but gave it a test ride and loved it. It was responsive, handled the corners well, and dampened just enough the road vibrations to make it comfortable on my long rides.

Anyone here own one? What are your thoughts? Complaints? Thanks!

I was going to buy that bike. I test rode one too and found it to be just as you did. I ended up getting a Felt F35. For a few hundred more I got a better component set (Mavic Elite wheels, FSA Carbon crank, Dura Ace rear derailleur), but it doesn't alter the fact that the Allez Comp is a great bike. Like I said, if the F35 hadn't been there I'd have bought the Specialized.

I have the s-works frame which is the same design, different material. My brother has the allez comp and he loves it. In my opinion, you can't get a better bike for the money (i.e. it's the best value)... That's why I recommended it to my brother.

I realise they've changed in recent years, but I bought a 1999 Allez Comp (traditional geometry), 2nd hand, frame only for $100 (Australian, ~$65 US), just because it was cheap, and I wanted a cheap, aluminium bike to ride in the rain. I put a Kinesis Airfoil aluminium fork in it, and I can't believe how good it rides. It's probably my favourite bike at the moment. I have two other aluminium bikes that are complete bone-rattlers compared to the Specialized. Check out Road Bike Review:

i also have the S-works. The 2004 allez comp is a great bike. Its about $1600 US. It has an Ultegra group and mavic ksyriums!

The frame I believe is heavier than the S-works but the geometry is the same.. I love my ride, its fast and efficient!

I bought it! Taking it out for its first mountain ride this sunday. I cant wait to see how it does on the hills.

I was going to get the Trek 5000. I was in love with the smooth ride ov the OCLV frame, but after riding the Allez I realized that I needed a little more feedback from the road to feel comfortable in hard corners. Also, the Allez is $500 less!

i have a 2003 allez comp. i'm not crazy about the compact geometry, or the paint job (i have zebra strips on mine).. but those things are mostly cosmetic for me. the bike is light enough, responsive enough, and has great components.

i've been mostly pleased with mine, and would recommend to anyone. for the price, it's a tough bike to beat.

the only problem i've had was the front wheel needed truing a couple of times, but i have the Shimano WH-R540 wheels (16 spokes). i'm not sure what the '04 model comes with. if possible try to go with something other than the 16 spoke wheels.

The 2004 comes with the Mavic Ksyrium Equipe wheels. They are not 16 spoke. Good for me. I am over 180.

My s-works has the zebra paint scheme too.. Well, I'm crazy about the stripes right now, still shopping for the matching domina zebra jerseys.. :D :D :D

Great! since you have a new bike, you're required to post a pic. ;)

i guess if you have some zebra strips you might as well go all the way!! all decked out in zebra strips...now that would be something to see!
