I'm looking for a digital camera that I can throw in a jersey pocket so I can take pictures as I come across them while I'm riding/commuting/touring. It doesn't have to have a great feature set or be the best quality, but better quality than a cell phone camera. Portability and durability are my highest priorities, battery operated rather than a battery pack would be nice as well. I've already found some that seem to fit the bill, but I figure someone here has probably done the exact same thing I'm looking to do. What do some of you guys use?

I EDC a Canon G10. While riding, I have it in front slung like a bandolier so I have quick access. I keep it set to video mode so it can act like a police dashboard cam if I get into an altercation with a cager or street toughs.

For something fairly cheap...Kodak Zi6 (http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=13063&pq-locale=en_US&_requestid=1312) is pretty cool. It's like the Flip, but does 3MP stills as well as HD video. Takes AA or rechargeable batteries. About $150 at Amazon.

See reviews of weatherproof digital cameras at LINK (http://www.steves-digicams.com/cameras_wr.html). The Olympus Stylus 1050 SW (http://www.steves-digicams.com/2008_reviews/stylus1050.html#buy) or perhaps another less expensive model in the Stylus series might be a good candidate. Waterproof to 10 feet under water and shockproof to a 5 foot drop. Does use an internal battery, however. Disclaimer: I do not own or have used one but I will also be in the market for this type of camera.

OK I have to ask. What type of camera mount do you have for the Canon A530 ?

That was my fourth and final mount.
You can start by using any bar mount light bracket.
Just make the hole larger and add a 1/4 standard 20 threads per inch bolt.

This is the first thing I thought about when I saw your pic.

No, I'm not trying to be funny or mean. I love it.

Also, I will be stealing your camera mount design for my bike. :p

Thanks!

...Olympus Stylus 1050 SW

I have the 1030 which is good to 10m underwater, and the 720 which is 3m. Two batteries in the 720 are good for a few hundred shots. I upgraded to the 1030 for the wide angle lens and 3m isn't deep enough when snorkeling.
