We're still preparing ours, however here's what's on tap for tonights meal:

Bottle of Wolf Blass, Yellow Label Cabernet Sauvignon - 2007. Polishing off a goblet full before supper.

2 Tenderloin Steaks (1 1/2" thick). $13 each ... ouch. Better not screw them up :twitchy:

Home made garlic bread.

Green Beans.

Sweet Potatos with butter, brown sugar and chili powder all mashed in. Delicious!

Dessert - Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia Ice Cream with Saucy Sangria Drizzle (Amazingly Delicious!)

How about all you guys???

I am proud to say that a wonderful woman that I just started dating is preparing a traditional meal for the two of us tonight. We will be dining at my house, opening a bottle of wine, and taking pictures to bring in the new year in a quiet, intimate, romantic, and joyous setting.

Fresh rice and hot sausage.

Just a bit to tide me over until we visit friends in about 2 hours.

Just had a cheeseburger...not in the mood to cook a big meal tonight and the wife was not very hungry thanks to an obnoxious employee at her store.

Campbells Chunky Beef-Veggie soup, two bread rolls, orange juice mixed with egg nog*

*Everything but the egg nog was brought home from work today. Only 5 of our 30-person department showed up for work today, so we all brought in something for an e-x-t-e-n-d-e-d New Years Eve potluck-brunch (no work got done today). Admin decided to close down at 1PM (yeah!), and no-one else wanted to take home the left-overs.

No party tonight. Gonna get a good night's sleep so I can get up and take a nice long bike ride to start 2009 (Southern California). :thumb:

Happy New Year!

I flew home from SF this afternoon so my daughter ordered pizza for us. I had shrimp with pesto (untraditional but good). I am now sipping champagne since I probably won't make it to midnight.

Wife and I had broiled pork steaks, french fries, and steamed cabbage. We drank tea and water. It was pretty good. We'll be snoozing at midnight. I'm getting up tomorrow for a frosty morning mtb ride along the river.

Cheeseburger, small vanilla milkshake from a Wally's Burgers.

Lasted me for the 5-6 hours while I was at a party, until I stopped by a 24 hour drugstore and picked up a frozen lasanga.

Had dinner with the bike club... Lost track of the numbers of bottles of wine..Mostly Loire whites because the food centered about sea food... With deserts , the wine was Vouvray sparkling wine.. Desert.. Chestnut tart... Dinner.. assortment of spicy hors derves. .. Crab salad, plate of cheeses; escargot; main course.. Spicy giant shrimp and lobster. If not for the spotty showers, and headache from the wine, we all desperately need a ride..Tomorrow..

Tried an italian restaurant in town I had not being too. Food was mediocre at best, espresso was lousy, but the wine was good. The wife's food and dessert were just as mediocre, but the kids said their pasta was "ok, but not as good as the one mommy makes at home". We do our own sauce by the way and I am yet to find some anywhere that rivals it despite being a bit biased in my opinion.

Alfster. A benefit of joining the local bike club. Likely we all over indulged with the vino. But, when your bike clubs members are all local people. We can walk home and not worry about the police out with the breathalyzer test.

Crap. I did not know it was supposed to be special.
I rode almost 70 miles and went to Wendy's since I did not want to cook at 7pm.
I had a potato and fries. :p

Just as long as Turbo and what's the other terror's name? Lightning? As long as they got scraps, nobody gets hurt! I love the pic of your dogs that I posted on the Grilled cheese thread (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=473287&highlight=cheese+grilled).
Me, I had some meaty marinara pasta from Pizza Hut and slept through most of New Years celebration time.

You don't expect him to answer this early do you? He's probably still abed.

For my part, last minute dinner invitation for oysters, followed by order in curry and bought deserts, washed down with excellent wine and bubbles at the stroke of midnight. Then one of the guests got out his clarinet and started playing.

And 2009 started with a kiss. Not bad.

Turbo and Siren ended up with some premium scraps last night. Yeah, that's a great shot ... and not that uncommon of an occurrance. New Years Resolution for us should be better training :innocent:

Nothing wrong with Pizza Hut's pasta ... most times. I've had a few bad experiences with their pizza but never with their pasta.

Ummm update on date:

It must have went well, because I'm no longer single. Knots were tied, promises were made, and kisses were exchanged. I have learned that it is the woman's job to cut off all the circulation in a man's upper body, and the man's job to do everything in his power not to wake her up when sleeping off a great meal.

:) <- real smile

That is all I am willing to share for now. Besides the leftovers. Plenty of leftovers if anyone wants to stop by for lunch.

P.S. Dogs are extremely jealous creatures!

Took the family to Olive Garden. It's become a tradition to take our two boys out for dinner on Dec 31. We go to the Olive Garden because we can afford to feed our two 6 footers there. We'd go broke at a steak house.

See your avatar? That's what was staring us on the face everytime we finished kissing. The other antics were even sillier/scarier and would be truly funny if he wasn't 85 pounds and capable of killing.:twitchy:

The plus side, I think she knows I'm willing/able to protect her (even from him), and so is he (he eventually came around and stopped growling/body checking her after we made it official, believe it or not) if it came down to it.:thumb:
