1. Post more miles on my bikes (I have 3, right now ;)) than on my car (only my Civic, does not include my wife's car).

2. Make Barlow Road my b*tch.

Awesome. Make it happen. Then turn around and descend that puppy at 50+ mph just to taunt it.

I make no resolutions. NONE, I SAY!

Get a pair of winter cycling shoes and some toe warmers and then cycle outside until my nose freezes off :)
At least that's my resolution until around March/April or so.
The rollers are dead, long live the nature!!!

+1

However, I made goals a few months ago.

-Win a stage of the MidWest Cyclign Series
-Show up the pro/elite riders
-Develop my climbing to the point where I can hang with the peloton
-Develop my sprinting to the point where it's potent enough to let me win
-Work at becoming a stagaire
-Beroepsrenner

I don't like resolutions.

My goals are to train with a purpose and not suck as much.

Po-tay-to, po-tah-to.

Let's call the whole thing off. :)

It's just that with resolutions it seems that you have to maintain as long as you can until you give up. When you have goals you work all year trying to achieve them.

+10% personal best sprint power
new personal best 20 minute power
win something

My non-cycling resolution is to never be wrong about anything.

Resolution (marginally cycling related) - do not buy anything made in China.
Try to buy local. So what cycling gear and products does that leave me with? (CycleOps, Planet Bike, SARIS) Even Shimano makes some of its stuff in China. I don't have anything against the Chinese people, but I no longer want to support their economy.

Resolution: To ride .

I have positively had it with my current job ... I may soon find myself with LOTS of time to ride. :D

I haven't bought anything from him, yet. He is a good guy and well recommended though.

Goals for 2009.

A couple of enjoyable 2 day rides:

* Cycle from Cincinnati to Yellow Springs and back (2 days, TBD) (approx 90 miles)
* Cycle from Cincinnati to Columbus and back (2 days, TBD) (approx 130 miles)

A couple of stretch goals:

* Cycle from Cincinnati to Cleveland (6 days, TBD, drive back ) (approx 300 miles)
* Cycle from Cincinnati to Marietta (1 Day, TBD) (approx 100 miles)
* Cycle in the MS150 (Aug 28/29) (150 miles)

And some fun diving:

* Wreck diving trip to St Lawrence 1000 Island Region (Aug 2-9)
* Cave diving in Northern Florida
* Warm Water Diving (?Finally wreck diving in the Florida Keys)

In addition to these “event” goals, I’d like to build on the 1600 miles cycled on the road bike in 2008 and do 4000 miles on the road bike and 200 miles mountain biking in 2009. It would also be nice to lose 20lbs and/or 5% bodyfat too!
Oh... and conquer the local "Hill of Death" in one climb... lol

New ones I might do: Quadrupedal Century, Alpe Bl’Huez TT

Plenty of riding solo and with friends

No resolutions. I'll just ride when I feel like it, which is a lot of the time. If I make rules and pledges I think that would take all the fun out of it.

I'm not even sure I'm going to do one of those silly races. I'm thinking that if it's my goal to beat him, though, it just might drive him over the edge.

Colorchange, I'm gunning for you!

All you gotta do is go three seconds faster than him.

wb416, which hill?

I would like to ride in the Breast Cancer ride. I would also like to ride to Yellow Springs, the farthest I've gone is from Loveland to Spring Valley and back. Also to commute more.

Ummm... I think you're still a good 20 pounds lighter than me (and approximately the same height). And you've got that fancy Cervelo.

And, I'm still going to whip you like a rented mule.

As a completely unrelated matter, a meeting of those of us who shall whip you will convene at Vision Quest this Sunday for a computrainer time trial. You should join us. It's a lot of fun.

+1 - Open invite to anyone interested. Even if you just want to come along and see what's up.

i'm thinking about going to watch...will i be bored out of my mind?

MJH2
01-02-09, 06:46 PM
No. But you will be less bored if you give it a go. I ride at 10:00. PSIMet rides at 11:00, so there will be people to chit-chat with.

Still, give a go. You have nothing to lose (except the entrance cost)

wb416, which hill?

I would like to ride in the Breast Cancer ride. I would also like to ride to Yellow Springs, the farthest I've gone is from Loveland to Spring Valley and back. Also to commute more.

My personal "Hill of Death" is a couple of miles from home on the Lebanon-YMCA trail from approx MM2 to 2.5. Climbing is my weakness and I've never made it up in one continuous climb.

It rises 120ft to a plateau. From the 4-Way stop at the bottom to the top measures just over 1/4 of a mile, yet it seriously kicks our butts. Best I've done so far is about 3/4 the way up before gassing (and everything turning cool shades of purple), then completing the hill after I catch my breath.

When is the Breast Cancer Ride?

When it's warmer, we usually ride down to Loveland on a regular basis.

That's sounds like a good one. I guess mine would be Glendale-Milford Rd starting at RT,or Center Hill by P&G.

The Breast Cancer Ride is June 14. The site is www.ridecincinnati.com.

I've only been in the Cincy area for 3 years, so don't know much of the geography, but Penny started laughing maniacally at the mention of College Hill and said... "Uh... yeeeehhhhhh". Guess that means your "Hill of Death" trumps ours... lol

Ride more than last year. Complete my 1st century. Commute more frequently.

And not really cycling related but I'm still hoping for the "World domination" thing to happen soon for me, so Ive got that going for me, which is nice.

1) Start riding earlier this spring

2) Ride the Sputnik (fixed) a lot early season to try and build leg strength earlier in the season.

3) Join and commit to at least one weekly group ride. Sammy's is a 2 minute bike ride from my house, so maybe that would make the most sense. Penny Road Pub ride is definitely a better ride, especially the peeps, but it's a 30 minute drive just to get there.

4) Ride up to the end of the Fox River Trail in Ringwood with Smokinmiles. (We never quite got around to it last year)

I think that's more than enough formal ones. Generally, get in a lot more miles, for my physical health, mental health, stress, etc.

ColorChange

OK

1. Don't ride stupid and break your collarbone.

2. Ride the 200k DD.

3. Ride in the mountains somewhere.

4. If I sell my company, train like a madman.

5. Shell a 1 hour 40k tt, FOR SURE!

6. Beat everyone up Braeborn (all the Aliens) at least once.

7. Become an Alien myself (tall order but I'll try).

8. Improve my sprint ... at least a little.

9. Win some races.

10. Upgrade to a Cat 4?

11. Have a BF summer party and ride. :)

hmmmm...with my current health and uncertainty about how long I will be unable to do any "strenuous" exercise, I tentatively have these plans. Mainly, I just want to get back out there. Right now , 15 minutes on my feet does me in

1. Train enough to attempt the 300k at the Dairyland Dare.

2. Start participating in the local racing scene.

3. Give cyclocross a whirl in the fall.

4. Commit to commuting more. I've got a good bike for it.

5. Do lots more mountain biking out west.

6. I really wanted to be a Survivor of the Rock Cut Trails Series (running) again this year, but my next race looks to be in jeopardy. Might not be meant to be.

7. Become involved in a Jr. program to encourage young riders.

NICE! And it only took us 41 posts as a group for someone to come up with something to benefit more than ourselves.:o

Excellent idea, Crystal.:thumb:

(Great, now when I'm out on the Fox River Trail I'll be getting dropped by 10-yr. old girls.):p
