Great Lakes - New Year's Ride

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anyone interested in riding today? Was planning on riding....just looking for riding partners.
PLan on something not too long or intense obviously. Just want to get out and stretch my legs. I rode 2 days ago and the roads are basically clear and in really good shape. That said I still plan on riding my cross bike.
Anyone? Elgin area. No time set yet. Will set it based on interest and other's timing. Remember the sun sets early.

I had to get out. So I just went . . . sorry :( We could have enjoyed that wind together :twitchy:
Oh, by the way, Penny Road isn't any better :notamused:

HAHA...I went out West. I only did 19 miles. That wind sucked. I will post some pictures later.

I hope you were you on your mountain bike with full suspension.
we may hit 40 degrees this weekend. if so i must get out on the road. it would be cool to log at least one ride outside every month of 2009. later.

Nope. On my steel fixed gear bike. I think cars are even avoiding it

If it's not repaired by springtime, the Tuesday night ride is going to be a bloodbath.
Or we could just wise up and go a different way.

Or we could parlay some type of warm-up ;)

New avatar, Psimet? I went yesterday with a similar look, but had to pull down the b'clava a little to prevent fogging the glasses.

I can't recognize him without his famous "I'm about the throw up" grimace.
I'm jealous of you both! I'd love to be out there !!!!
Wiswell, I liked your New Year's Resolutions :)
are you wearing a hat of some kind over the b'clava?
later.

I never liked those winter cycling hats. Warm yes, but the visor seems to direct the wind to your already cold forehead :wtf:
Today, although warmer air temp, seemed a lot colder. And was that sleet on the roads?

Yup. Hand made wool cycling hat with ear covers. Old school and very thin, but warm. Perfect over the balaclava.

Fortunately this picture was taken at the beginning of the ride and not at the end when all the snot streaks and hangers would have graced the front of the balaclava
