Foo - mechBgon's photo guide to building your own computer :)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Chris L woke me from hibernation :) so here is the project I've been working on:

Photo guide for first-time computer builders (http://www.omnicast.net/~tmcfadden/guides/build/index.html)

Have fun :)

...was putting that box together hard?No it wasn't, and that's the point of the guide... it's not a difficult task. If the newbies want to build their own computer for the first time, hopefully I've helped empower them to do that. :)

Koffee Brown, thanks for the welcome back :) I hope those troublesome Continental tires are long gone?

What about SATA? Plan on adding that later?Maybe. I'm more of a SCSI fanboy (http://www.omnicast.net/~tmcfadden/Images/SCSI_v_IDE.jpg) myself :) The trouble with SATA being added to the guide is partly the convolutions that are sometimes required to get a system to boot from SATA. Some of the ABit Pentium4 boards like the IS-7 are enough to send a guy to the asylum. I sure don't want to get 50 private messages a day from newbies with IS-7's and SATA drives, I can tell you that! "Help help, my computer won't boot from the SATA drive!"

Uuuugh! Well, actually, the rear tire is different, but the front... still Contis. I'm waiting to wear it down before I replace them!

I can't believe you still remember that tire problem I had. What nightmares!

interesting and understandable. I work as a Presales System Engineer and understand your position completely. I will probably refer my inside customers (coworkers) to your link for tech assistance when they decide to build their own systems; which some want to do, but while I watch. And I am just the 802.11 LAN/WAN guy!
