I wanted to ring in the new year by going for a ride today. A friend of mine and I rode to the San Xavier del Bac Mission (http://www.sanxaviermission.org/) south of Tucson.

Here are some photos of the Mission:

They still have a daily mass at the mission. I'm not religious and have never been, but I imagine it being very cool for Catholics.

My buddy rode his mountain bike, which is fun because it makes me the fast one :p

The ride was nice and the weather was great. The other cool thing is that the ride put me over 100 miles for the week. It was one of my goals for my time off of work.

*I tried to take some action shots for Mr. Beanz, but it didn't really work out. I'll keep practicing.

I was going to ride in the free New Years Day metric century that the local bike club puts on, but this dang cold is kicking my butt. Instead of riding, I am at home killing a box of kleenex. Hope to get better so I can get some miles in this week. Not a good start to the new year.

Not a good start to the new year.

Don't worry you've still got 364 days left ;)

Your pics (these and others you've posted) are really making me fall in love with Tucson. I really have to come out there some day. You're putting your new camera to good use, keep it up and congrats on meeting your goal!

+1

I already mentioned to my wife that next Spring looks like a good time to finally realize my dream of going to Spring Training. I'm kind of thinking about taking the panniers and tent and just riding around to different games and camps.

If you are going to come to Tucson for spring training, you should do it sooner rather than later. All the teams are trying to get out of their contracts so that they can play in Phoenix.

The White Sox already paid to break their contract and are preparing to move to Phoenix.
