Recreational & Family - Can future MTB rider hang here with the RECS.??

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

:( Gota tell ya, I want a LBS level MTB but Mountain Bike'in has become a non-entry for rider like me! I mean there's Cross-County, Downhill, Freeride, etc., when I got my first MTB back in 1985 we did "ALL" those thing, heck I even did some AM NORBA MTB Racing on my Mountain bike! Still whatever bike I own has to "do it all", commute, off-road, on road, trailer hauler, I can't have or afford a MTB for every type of riding, it's NUTS! So when I get my LBS MTB, is it ok if I hang out here with you Rec. riders so I don't have to be "shuned and shamed", cause my MTB has a "Rear Rack and shorty fenders"!:thumb:

You all seem to be the only sane folks on two wheel's, I don't see anybody here looking at laying 3-5 grand out for a bicycle!:twitchy: The REC'ers seem to get the idea that a bicycle should be a multi-functional/purpose machine but I like to do a bit of "non-ultra narly" local singletrack so I'd prefer a actual MTB over a cross/hybrid type of bike. Pls. let me stay, "I'll bring PIE"! ;)

The nice thing about the family forum is we all have been there, done that, and really not pretentious about what you want to ride. OK, we do want to see some pics showing it off, and your thoughts on what you like and why. =]

Thanks I can feel the  You betcha as soon as I get my LBS MTB, I'll post up a couple of photo's and why I like it. Right now, I'm a bit embarresed as I'm riding a :twitchy:lowly Roadmaster Mnt. Sport SX, I know shameful and "Department Store Bike or DSB":o Well 2008 turned out to be the worst financial and personal year in our 28 years of marriage but at least it forced me back on a bicycle, I refound out WHY I rode a bicycle, hey there just FUN! My DSB even pulls a homemade cargo trailer for food and large items! Thank goodness for the Colorado Springs Bike Shop, the only LBS that will "smile" at me while they work on my POS DSB MTB, it rides and runs better than it probably should thanks to them!:Dhttp://lh6.ggpht.com/_GW75NWraW4E/SPjrk3ja6nI/AAAAAAAAB5k/PoclenetHPk/bearcreeksingletrack-1.jpg
