Me: I getting up early and riding Diablo on New Years day. Wanta go?
Tricia: uuummmmmmmm. I'll think about it.

Me: Coffee's on. Coming?
Tricia: arghmmmmmmmmmm. (rolls over)

Me: Ok. I'm suited up and going. Bye!
Tricia: Wait. I coming with you.

Me: Big smile.

Tricia has done the junction a few times, but all the talk of epic rides and the wall had her a bit... concerned.
Of course, she had absolutely no problem. She didn't even bother to stand up for the wall.

We started off in too much fog, and by 1500 feet elevation I figured we'd be in a cloud all day. But somewhere around 2000 feet we popped into a beautiful day.

There were cyclists everywhere. I wish I had a count (paging Dr. DiabloScott) even a guess count. It was grand.

Coming down was fun until we slammed into the fog and could hardly see. We were braille-riding for a couple of miles.

My first New Years day on the mountain, Tricia's first summit.
A good time was had by all.

I'd guess I saw about 60 riders between 8 and 10:30
Did you see the skunk road kill?
Blog's done.

Wow, the shot from the top is awesome! I thought about riding Diablo - I guess I thought it might still be closed and snowing...lol. Maybe next year. This year I just got dropped by the race team on the Cantelow loop. Story of 2008 AND 2009, no doubt.

I thought I saw Tricia descending as I was climbing today, somewhere up above the Junction.

Good job!

Today was my first time up Diablo in many years. There were a lot of riders there at the Junction, no less then 30-40 riders when I was there and I ran into Curtis and Trisha. Going up wasn't too bad but coming down was frigging cold and foggy. Visibility at one point was probably about 50 feet.

Very cool! I rode up at around 1:30. It took me 1:19 to the top- definitely wasn't feeling 100%.

Very cool picture! Almost whimsical. I wonder what it would look like in black-and-white?

Can I pirate the black-and-white pic along with its previous color one? I just love those pictures. They are to go on my wallpaper, etc.

The both of us (Tricia is the cute one)

Is that just the angle the picture is taken or do you have your brifters set way up on the bars? It looks like the levers are pointed out at a 45 degree angle

My left brifter is indeed pointed in a highly none standard direction. I think of it as "custom."
Has to do with a shorter left arm and such.

Good eye.
