sorry to ask this, but i've been struggling with this decision for over a week. i'm currently riding a steel marin w/ campy veloce but i'm in the market for a lighter, stiffer bike. i've narrowed it to a 2002 litespeed hyperion (aluminum frame w/ carbon fork, carbon seatstays, full ultegra, and sweet spinergy wheels) with shimano spd-r pedals and a pair of sidi shoes for about $1800 and a 2003 allez comp aluminum frame with a carbon seatpost & carbon frame with full ultegra and the shimano wheelset (no pedals included) for about $1400.

both seem similar in ride quality and i think the litespeed is a bit stiffer, but need some advice. unfortunately they're both at different shops and each shop is talking down about the other brand. anyone have any opinoins? thanks in advance.

Your post looked lonely, so I thought I'd reply, eventhough you likely made your decision long ago.

After much research, I went after the Litespeed Hyperion...and actually, it is a 2002 model. Picked it up in late '02 from a local shop. I found a good price for it out on Colo Cyclist, printed that out, went to the local Litespeed dealer and they agreed to meet that price. Would much prefer to buy through a shop than online.

Can't provide any comments on the other model you were considering, and I don't have any prior experience with other true road bikes, but I do thoroughly enjoy my LS Hyp. Considered many others, was quite taken by the Klein Quantum (in purple). Mine is equipped with Campy Centaur 10-speed, dual. LOVE the appearance of it, and it rides very nicely.
