I have a dynanmo hub that i wanted to run with the lumotec 170ndi from harris cyclery. I just wanted to know if these were compatible or if i had to go with the shimano r600 light that shimnao recomends. I like the shape and size of the lumotec. Thanks.
Yes that light will work fine. You might want to consider a brighter led light though.

I'd also recommend an LED light; more expensive, but much brighter and you never have to change bulbs. I just installed a Lumotec IQ Fly (and D'Toplight XS taillight) with my Shimano dyno and everything works fine. The IQ Fly is 40 lux, vs. 17 lux for the one you're looking at. There's a new model, the IQ Cyo, that's 60 lux.
I got my light from Peter White (http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/), and it was backordered for quite some time, so hopefully they still have some from the current shipment. I don't know if the Cyo is available in the US yet.

I just installed an Oval Senso Plus LED headlight and Selectra Plus taillight with my Shimano DH-3N71 hub, and they appear to be working fine.
I bought them at a shop in Germany, who also gave me a length of wire with connectors to reach the taillight. Both have standlights, and the taillight has two side LEDs for extra visibility. The headlight is replacing the Shimano LP-R600 that came on the bike; it was an OK light, enough for moderate speeds in dark areas and probably enough for being seen. But, I've got high hopes for the new setup, and I've finally reached my goal of a bike with a fully self-powered lighting system that doesn't suck.
After I fully secure the wiring, I'll take them on their first ride in a bit to go to breakfast. Dynamo lighting FTW.
