Hi all,
Anybody here doing any Dallas area brevets? How about the 200/300k on January 10th?

I won't be doing the Brevets, but there are two Populaires coming up. One Jan 31 and one feb 14, that I will try and catch one or the other.
The Feb 14 one is looking best schedule wise for me but that could change.

If I recover from the 16 hour 200k yesterday (Yes it was a DNF for time) I may go down and do the 200k but I have to see if the work schedule allows it.

I did the New years ride yesterday, but probably won't do any more until Feb. Are you a member of LSR? They have an active Google group, and someone is doing a permanent pretty much every weekend.

Nope, I'm not a member of LSR. I've thought about joining but haven't done it. Maybe I will sometime soon. I might be out there for the 200k on the 10th.

Brock, I plan to be there on the 10th. I'm thinking I'll ride the 300, but that's not completely set in stone. There will be people riding both distances I'm sure. It's a good bunch of folks, and well worth the $20 to join (in my opinion).

I will be there for the 300K. Come on out and ride with us, Brock. LSR is a great club and you'll have a lot of fun.

Brock, did you make it out? It was a little chilly, but a good ride with good friends.
Steve
Nice breeze for it. How'd it go?

I had to head North of the border. The wind was moving the family truckster around pretty good at times. I thought about everyone trying to ride into it:twitchy:

It could have been lots worse. As far as I know, everyone got home safe, and I'm almost fully thawed out now. :thumb:
We had 20 mph winds with 30 mph gusts out of the north until noon or so. A lot of cross winds on the route, which hurt both ways on the 300K. It got down to about freezing, so the temperature wasn't too bad. I finished pretty late and my toe warmers gave out in the last 25 miles. But, by then, I didn't want to stop so just slogged on into the wind to the finish. At least the winds had died down to a gentle 10 mph by then.

Those winds were definately not so great especially with the chilly temperatures but my one pair of wools socks and sandals held up jsut fine. I was actually having a pretty good ride oh until about mile 29.38 or so when I not only dropped my chain in front but somehow ended up jamming it between the axle and RD mounting bolt.
Lots of friendly drivers offered help but got it fixed and back on the road which by that time meant I was alone for the other 95 miles or so. At least I didn't DNF woot.
