Hi

I have spotted a used Cannondale mountain tandem but there is something weird about it. Here is the link....

http://www.therecyclery.com/bikes/cannondale

I think it is a 2004 but it has a straight top tube and every single image of a Cannondale MT I can find until the current 2009 model has a bent top tube as in the following link.

http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?Year=2004&Brand=Cannondale&Model=Mountain+Tandem&Type=bike

Does anybody know if and when Cannondale made a mountain tandem with a straight top tube?

I need to try and figure out the geometry as I will be buying unseen.

Help! Thanks!

Yes, the larger sizes of the '99 model year and up Cannondale road and off-road tandems have a straight top tube. Off-hand I don't recall at what exact size.

I don't know much on this, but I'm going to guess only an xtra large will have a straight top tube. I have have a 2008 L/S Cannondale and it has the lowered top tube. :)

This bike was on Ebay. Someone won the thing for $1000. In the description it listed it as a 21.5" captain seattube and a 14" stoker seattube. The adds title stated X/S.

Here it is from Cannondales archive

Based on the description in the add, it is likely a XL/S size frame as the seller listed. A modern Cannondale size XL is probably for someone around 6'2" or more, the small is probably 5'4" or less.

Thanks for the input. I was watching the auction but in the end I decided I wasn't comfortable bidding without a test ride. Seems that this was a good price though!

Our 2007 L/M Street Tandem (same frame as the Mountain tandem) has the strait tube.
