You've both got me beat. I just started letting things grow out past a #2 clipper a couple weeks ago when the cold weather set in.

That is impressive. I'm working on the mustache this year. Most years I hate it because it gets in the way, but this year, I'm ignoring that hatred...

How the heck do you guys manage to get past the scratchy/itchy phase early on? Every time I have decided to try and grow a beard I end up sprinting to the bathroom to shave after nearly going nuts from the discomfort.

I don't remember. Last time I was clean shaven was in '94. It lasted exactly one day. That was the day I got married.

I went on a week-long bender after losing my job. When I came to, I had a beard. Apparently I missed the scratchy/itchy phase.

There's a point at which it's just irritating as all get out, but if you're lazy enough, you can get by it.

I don't have a picture of mine on me, and the cable for my camera is at home. If this thread is still floating around once I get home, I'll see if I can't capture the essence.

I hope you have a monocle and a top hat to go along with that.

I'm the same....I am on week two and am still in the hair shirt Thomas Beckett phase....a few days ago I was getting acute cranial pain from the helmet rubbing against short hairs....I think it's just worse for us swarthy coarse haired types.

I think I used to look good with a full beard, but now, not so much. Today after two weeks I chopped down to a goatee and I think it's better. We shall see......I am shooting for a monty wooley

Hmmm. According to my wife it's not possible for me to be any more lazy than I am now. I guess that I am out of luck with the beard.

This thread reminds me of high school where Harold Blaz could grow a full beard in 3 days when he was in the 10th grade (voted "most likely to go to jail" after graduation). It takes me about 3 days to grow a five o' clock shadow.

Calling what's on my face a 'beard' is like characterizing my participation in USA Cycling events as 'racing'.

I'd do it, but I can never get past the itchies. Besides, I do not have a consistent beard growth anyways.
