BROL has a thread like this for those that ride their bikes to commute. I'm retired, so, I ride my home made assisted velomobile to commute to Panera for coffee, and for running errands. This would be a great place to share your commute stories on a daily basis, or as you see fit. Or not - it's up to you!

Two days, two rides in 2009, both just a skosh over 7 miles each. Don't have my Cycle Analyst stats with me at the moment, but I'll edit this when I do.

Well, the forecast was for a high of 40+ degrees so I decided to ride my E-Zip into town about 12 miles each way so I could conduct some business and work out at a gym. I took my charger with me. The commute into town was fine. However, I noticed the National Weather Service completely blew the forecast when a very strong front arrived at about 1500 with winds of 25-35 mph. The temperatures started to drop like a rock. Before I left home today, I looked at the forecast at 0900. The forecast called for temperatures in the 40+ degree range and said absolutely nothing about the arrival of a front later in the day. The return trip home was fine for 3/4 of the way, but then all hell broke lose. For about the last 3 miles, the snow started to come down moderately (I've seen much worse) and the road began to freeze due to the dropping temperatures. With the high winds, the visibility for the last 3 miles was really poor and almost white out conditions for a stretch of the way. The E-Zip handled the trip quite well even with the slick road and 30mph crosswinds blowing from the north. When I got home at about 1700 the temperature was 15F. I looked at the forecast which naturally had changed significantly from the earlier one at 0900. Maybe, Americans should privatize the NWS so we might at least have 12 hours of warning. ;) Generally, the NWS does an adequate job, but they missed the boat as it was leaving the dock today.

Ummmmmmm......was -26C this morning. My ebike is put away till spring. To expensive to submit to the salty, dirty roads. Didn't feel like riding my specific winter beater either. I drove my car.

No serious commute, as I am milking my last few days of vacation. I did have to go to the post office about 3 miles away, but ended up riding 11 when all was said and done. Weather is beautiful here right now. Temperatures are in the high 60's. No ice or snow. Past few days have been sunny and nice. :)

Light snow, temps above 30 d. f., perfect day for an assisted trike ride to Panera, followed by a trip to Lowe's for some faucet water supply hose in braided stainless. State Trooper lit me up, just to see what the heck it was going down the street keeping up with the cars. With the door buttoned up, it takes a few minutes to remove the pins and unlatch the door. Guy thought I was riding a motorcycle! It's an ugly trike, would be one very fugly motorcycle! 17 miles, 45wh/mile avg., had to plug in for a boost at Panera and Lowes.

my ride home from work was kind of cool. i had a major head wind which really slowed me down but it was about 9:30 at night but i could see the fire burning near boulder,co. It was a neat view.
