Hi, can anyone explain the difference to me between specialized allez comp cro-mo and just the regular allez comp? I guess my question really is - what's cro-mo?
Pricing looks about the same, and I know I've probably just gotta get out there and ride 'em both, but just trying to get educated first.

the co-mo is steel, and the comp is aluminum. I would suggest riding both and seeing what you like. I bought the Al. It dampened enough of the road noise, but remained responsive.

Cro-Mo means it a chrome moly, or steel frame. The others are alloy(aluminum)

I have the Elite Cro-Mo, the model under the Comp. The frame is the same between the 2 bikes, just the Comp is Ultegra instead of 105 and a few other upgrades. So far I love the Cro-Mo frame. The regular aluminum frame (not the same as the comp frame) did not feel as smooth. I didnt ride a Comp as it was out of my budget so I can't complain.

The tubing used in the Cro-Mo is Columbus Foco. It is some of the lightest steel tubing currently available.

Do you know if they make the Allez Sport in cro-mo? I looked and couldn't find it. I have a friend who is looking for a new bike and feel she would benefit more from a steel frame than an aluminum one for her riding purposes. And the Allez Sport is at the right spec level in terms of componentry and price.

Cro-Moly is a type of steel alloy which is made with Chromium and Molybdenum...

Unfortunately they dont. In February I bought my 2003 Elite Cro-Mo for $899 shipped from Nicollet Bike (http://www.nicolletbike.com/index.php3?page=viewdeal.php3&dealnum=27).

Hmmm... that's a pretty good price. I'm starting to see the same closeouts here for $999 which is just within her budget so that's an option too.
