Recumbent - Homebuild recumbent

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I recently made an effort to translate my site from Dutch into English. It's a site about building my own recumbent.

I couldn't get to the construction photos but from the picture on the main page all I can say is I like the looks of your bike. I wish you many happy miles / kilometers.
I like what I see...keep up the good work.

dear Fran, I made my first recumbent out of an old tandem bike. It weights about 150 lbs. I made a front wheel drive system for it and got it up to 30 mph in a few Human power challenge events out here in Portland, Oregon. Its a great bike for sprint racing, but sense it is so heavy, I use it as my beach cruiser. I use to race with a very nice elderly gentlemen who had one lung. He must of been in his seventies and hardly anybody could stay up with him. He past away a few years ago and they did a nice write up on him in the HPV newsletter. He would of been a great resource for you to get tandem building ideas. I have a great friend out here that does imagineering welding. He can weld just about anything you put in front of him. I love my first creation and still ride it to this very day. The bike trails out here are absolutely gorgeous. They spent millions of dollars on them and there are very few riders. Good luck on your bike design.
