331.23 miles for the week
1511 miles for the month
114 hours on the bike this month.
I've had a slow/lazy start this year, but have finally started to lay down some miles over the last month or so. Yesterday I headed up to Estes Park, the little town where you enter Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. It is a 82-mile round-trip ride from my driveway. I should head up there more often. Here are some pictures.
Just entering the foothills in Loveland, Colorado on Hwy 34.

A few miles west in the Big Thompson Canyon.

Most of the ride beside the Big Thompson River looks like this. Nice, wide shoulders on the side of the road, and gorgeous views.

A view looking down on the switch-backs just NW of the town of Glenhaven, Colorado. Hard little section of road, with lots of broken glass and stuff on the narrow road shoulder. I took the picture while I was fixing a flat tire.

About 1000 meters/yards above the last picture, you come to top of the pass and look down on Estes Park. This was the first sign that I had that there would be rain yesterday.

I stayed dry all the way back home, staying just ahead of this thunderstorm. Lucky.

Due to the overcast skies, wind, and fear of lightening, I only took one last picture on the way down. This young bull, located about 10 miles from my house near Masonville, did not like me riding between him and the cows across the street. He made such a commotion, that I took his picture. The foothill/hogback cliffs made a nice backdrop.

I love riding up there.

A very busy week didn't allow me to spend as much time on the bike as I prefer. Going to have to get a 50+ miler in soon, as I'm getting somewhat antsy.

Tom, I have a question about the YTD totals. In the WK27-52 page in the spreadsheet, there is a cell called "Annual Totals." It looks like it is pulling in the total from the 1st 26 weeks, but not adding the subsequent weeks to the "Annual Total" cell. Is this the way you designed it or is there a mistake in the calculation formula?

I've been wondering the same thing.
Been really lax about updates these past few weeks, time to play catch-up...

I'm back again!! I think
I have had a lot of starts and stops, but I want to get back and hang on this time.
Two years ago I lost about 75lbs and rode my first century again in many years. I let other things get in the way of my comittment to being more fit and I gained all of that weight back again over the past 18 months or so. I just started back on the bike a few weeks ago and my mileage has quickly jumped up to 80 for last week. I can feel my legs beginning to come back a little more, but I'm still slow. Gravity has this way of holding heavy objects back!!
I found a bike club not too far away and I have been riding in two of thier weekly rides to help keep me motivated. I also dug out some of my old century planning tools and I'm mapping a plan to the Seagull Century in Salisbury, MD this fall.
Cross your fingers for me and let's hope I can do it again and stick with it.
Thanks for listening

I did a 46 miler today with the Local Bike Club --- Ouch
They busted my Butt pretty good. I rode with the "B" riders and I managed to hang with them up until the last 3 miles and I started to drop. I finished a few minutes behind them. I had another "big" guy that hung with me for those last three miles and it really helped pull me along to the finish.
Total miles for 8/8/09 = 93.05 miles
08-15-09: 163.8 miles
Completed my second century of '09 yesterday, and just crossed the 2k mile mark so far this year.

I only rode 36 miles this past week. We had a lot of storms and I had some other stuff to do a couple evenings. It really sucks when I can't get enough time to ride now. This next week should be better since I already logged 41 in today.
Cheers

What's up with spinner Saturday?
Lots of people haven't posted distance in weeks, including the mighty Stormcrowe, have folks moved to posting somewhere else and I missed the memo????

Once again my mileage was down this week below where I wanted but the two rides I got in were good quality rides. Today I did a metric century, so I'll have some good miles for next week.

It also seems like very few people are actually logging their miles. Do they usually do it in one big post at the end of the year?

I track my rides on three different web sites.
This is a good one. I like the report graphs You can join now and just add monthly totals to catch up.

That makes sense to some degree, one of the issues for me is that SS is in miles, and I actually track everything in a spread sheet at home that, along with the odo, is in kilometres, road distance signs and maps here are in km, so it's easier to work in a single set of units. I convert to miles on one of the summary pages, but I have noticed that I need to alter the numbers on SS occasionally because the totals don't match up due to rounding errors, it's usually only off by a mile or two.
If Spinner Saturday is really getting to the point that only a few people are using it, then I'll probably drop it. I think there is only about 46,000 miles logged, so I don't think it will come even close to the 150,000 miles that was intended.

You are The Poster of The Year.
Keep on Keep on Posting and Pedaling.
Time I resumed acting like it. 28 miles logged, spreadsheet updated, and new goal for year end formulated. Can I reach 2000 miles this year? I'm at 1231 now.

I'll settle for 1500. I have only 9 miles since my last post in this thread.
Is Spinner Saturday dead? No one seems to be posting.

Just added some bulk miles since week 30. Not many, but every little bit helps. Who knows maybe I'll get a few more in before the years up.

Updated the miles since I had started putting 0s which I mostly did because I didn't want to have any expectation that I'd ride. With 4,796 in the first half of the year and just under 1,700 in the second half I was a way short of my goal. Next year I think my goal will be 3k for the year (due to medical issues catching up to me in July not any lack of desire to do long rides).
I've still been updating my spreadsheet but not posting to this thread lately.
12/12/09: 3273.2 miles
I went on a ride today and now stand at 3289.3 miles, which bests my 2008 mileage total. From now until the end of the year I'm creating a new PR.
It makes me want to do something crazy, like a century on Christmas day... :)

Finished the year with 5,902 miles. Wished I could have made 6K miles, but things have been chaotic with the birth of our first child.
It'll give me something to shoot for next year!

By my calculations we should have around 76000 miles for the year (pending additional entries). 10 Wheels coming in with around 21% of those miles. Congrats 10 Wheels on another stellar year on the bike, and may 2010 bring you even more miles.
Additional congrats to all who participated, and may our pedals keep turning in 2010.

5842.12 for the year for me. A bit light, but I had a bad winter and Spring, and have been covered up with site issues. :(
