Mountain Biking - I'm not going to die, am I?

When ever I do a hard stop (using front only, or mostly) I hear a huge amount of creaking coming from (I think) my head set. Everything feels smooth, and its been like this ever sense I installed my new fork and stronger brakes (Maybe its always been like that, but its just now that my brakes have enough power). What can I do to stop this, or should I just grin and bare it?

This happened to me a couple years ago - I pulled the cups and the race from the fork - made sure there are no small burrs on the inside the race or the head tube (where the cups contact) and the same on the cups and steer tube. Cleaned all parts and reassembled with the proper tools and the creak was gone.

I find that taking things apart is sometimes the best remedy

Had that creaking once. Had assumed it was from a loose fit of the lower headset cup in the headtube. It had been mushrooming bigger and bigger over time and was being progressively shimmed.
One day, BANG, the downtube broke 2 inches behind the headtube.

Check everywhere carefully for cracks, especially with aluminum.
Every part I've ever broken has been at slow speed, in a low risk situation.
I've been lucky.

Good. When my downtube breaks, it will give me an excuse to get the frame I want.

Remove all load bearing decals and all will be fine.

LBD's are the glue that hold us all together.

The unkown side effect though by leaving them on too long they will wear out the frame/part and lead to premature failure.

Ok, I guess what I should have said, is will this directly contribute to this problem?

As for the LBDs. I've been toying with the idea of CAN O ALE ever sense someone on here mentioned it.
