Can I make one recommendation though?? Why not transfer everything you have so far on the website and go to Crazy Guy On A Bike and make your journal there?

Your photos can be on the same pages as your journal for each day of your tour, you can have a guestbook for comments, you'll have your own URL for linking sites to it, it's easy as heck, it's run by a heck of a nice fellow by the name of Neil Gunton who is also a cycle tourist and...

all of it is FREE w/no pop ups.

Thank you for recommendation. It does indeed sound reasonable and I am sure many people would benefit, but I like the fact that geocities is so impersonal.

Also I don't know if I wanted the link to start with "crazyguy"... :) So, I am going to leave it the way it is, at least for now. Thanks again for recommendation.

Each day my wife and me go to your website and look for updates... great new stuff on your bike and the newest days too.

You took some absolutely beautiful photos! BTW, in the photos that you, yourself are in 2 questions...

1. Is that your day to day cycling clothing (the button down shirt, khaki's & sandals) or did you wear other more traditional cycling gear too? If you didn't, you're practically a BOB (if you know what that means!!) wearing sensible non-cycling clothes for clothes!! Always great to see someone who doesn't wear spandex and lycra!

2. How did you take photos of yourself? Tripod or have a stranger hold the camera? Just curious.

Keep up the great work on the site and make sure you keep the updates coming because my wife & me (and I'm sure others too) are looking forward to them everyday!!

Thank you for your nice comments. It's my pleasure to write the journal (also helps in practicing English ;)).

Yes,those were my everyday clothes (being a minimalist?). I didn't have any special cycling, and this was the brightest I had for the sunny weather.

As far as taking picture of myself. I rarely asked people to do it, because first, there usually weren't many around. Second, there was a risk of them dropping the camera, which is heavy and would probably break right away. And lastly, often people would compose the picture in a way I wouldn't... you know.
Few times I held the camera in the hand, but mostly used 10 second timer. Occasionally, of course I asked someone to click the camera, if it was appropriate.

What a wonderful journal and beautiful photographs. The writing in the journal is so much fun, and just the way you describe things makes me feel like I'm almost there. Thank you so much for posting it. It truly is inspiration from these sort of things that makes me and others want to ride.

Lots of fun reading so far... and beautiful photos! But I almost feel pain reading about how you walk your bike up for hours up through mountain passes.... not to mention the relentless heat!
In retrospect, if you had to do this tour all over again, would you pick a different route or would you equip your bike differently in any way?

I definitely would like to tour more, especially in Europe. When exactly will there be next opportunity, I don't know right now. Of course, it's not very easy for most people to find time for long distance tours.

Hello George. Very interesting and complex question.
However, I never understood how can I be doing this trip again. I usually don't regret decisions of the past. This tour was my first one and very successful for me.
I did learn many things, of course.
Yes, I would equip the bike differently - definitely wider range gearing, but that's the only major thing.

As far as the route, yes, I definitely realized that busy roads are much more difficult, tiring, dangerous etc... compared to quite county roads.

But as always, bad luck, troubles and pain, makes people appreciate their absence more.

I must say Indoplanetyanin I enjoy your journals immensly and always check everyday for updates. It is nice to read about someone who endevours such a feat as yours, and does it with a minimum of funds. I now that if you try to free camp it leaves alot more money for food and other incidentals. Being a Canuck I am eagerly waiting for you to get to Canada. Anyways I patiently wait for the next instalment, thank you.
