so sad.. 2 weeks ago I bruised my ribs and am dying to get back into the spinning I usually do 5 times a week. Has anyone gotten back in the saddle after 2 weeks of bruised ribs??

Yes, it took literally about 2 weeks. Deep breathing was challenging, and it hurt when I coughed or sneezed, but no issues other than sleeping on my side.

I've never done it on a racing bike, but I did it last year on my old mtb I managed to hit a tree side ways.
And it did take me quite a while to get back on the bike...

I think mine were 2-3 weeks of complete rest. Took pain killers (paracetamol) for the first 5 days then ignored the pain. Doc wanted to give me heavy duty opiates O.o

Focus on taking deep breaths as you can end up with fluid build up in your lungs, i.e., bruised ribs generally lead to shallow, rapid breathing as that hurts the least.

I fell on a slick spot and went down, bruised my ribs, felt a clicking and got an X-ray. They couldn't see a crack, but told me as long as it was not displaced they couldn't do anything even if they were cracked, and advised to let pain be my guide.

So I started riding 3 days later 50 mile training rides...rather sore but not terrible pain. However sleeping was torture, and required pain meds for 2 weeks Took about 8 weeks to get completely back to normal.

I broke a couple of ribs last year. I was lucky in that my breathing wasn't too badly affected but I took a week off the bike completely just to make sure I wasn't doing any damage. After that, I found that being bent over actually helped me though YMMV.

I still have large lumps on my left ribs where the fracture callous remained but other than that I was fine within about four or five weeks.
