Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - 1971 Schwinn Continental Bottom Bracket????

So, I building a fixie starting with a vintage schwinn, and have most of it figured out... The only thing I'm missing now is finding the size of the bottom bracket. I actually have some FCA Crankarms that I want to put on, but trying to see if I need a converstion to make the English bracket work... Anyone have any suggestions?

You have a 1 piece crank. You need an adapter to run a 3 piece crank/bb setup. http://www.bikeparts.com/search_results.asp?ID=BPC110368.


Instead of the 20 dollar + $hipping adapter, you could get a couple pound lighter frame (used) with a proper bottom bracket.... Might have to look around though (don't know where you are from).

^ haha yeah, the adapter is worth more than what it would cost to just get a nicer frame.

Ok, So I have a noob question - i just bought a bike as a project -it's an old schwinn varsity (also a beast of a bike with odd BB, and seat & stem) - but has all the other parts I wanted to ride from day 1 so worth it for me - frame is a bit small for me. WHERE do you get a frame for $20?

I'm in Kansas City & been to a few of the LBS that I know carry random parts & used bikes but haven't seen anything THAT cheap local or on craigslist or ebay ... what don't I know? (on this topic...HA).
