I've recently had my birthday, and have been offered a pair of studded tires as a gift. The bike I'm intending to mount them on is an old mountain bike set up for city riding, so I'm looking for thinner, mildly-treaded 26" tires with carbide studs. However, no one seems to have such tires in stock other than Peter White offering Marathon Winters for an uncompetitive price. Is it simply too late in the winter for me to get a pair? I'm around Pittsburgh, in case anyone happens to know anything locally.

Have you tried Calhoun?

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I can swing $75/tire— does anyone know if there are places around that still have stock in the $50-60 range?

Try www.bikeman.com (http://www.bikeman.com) I just ordered a pair of Schwalbe Ice Spiker Pros from them. They have some of the lower priced Nokians and Innovas.

Thanks for the tips. Tree Fort and Bikeman both have Mount and Grounds in stock at a good price; just what I was looking for; BikeTiresDirect is out of stock.

Does anyone know if the Walmart tires are carbide studded?
