I'm 34 y.o., work at a little indie bookstore, and live with my partner of 10 years. I was all set to get a new bike when he took my 15 y.o. Raleigh moutain bike (which I don't do much of these days) and had it totally rebuilt for commuting. The result: I use my bike more than ever. Western Mass. is a rather "liberal" area nestled in the hills and valleys and tons of people are bike commuters which makes for a totally cool community. I'm so psyched to have found this forum!

Welcome, I crashed in Sunderland for a couple of months with one of my brothers and lived in Turners Falls (after a very quick 23 day stint in Millers in a building which has since been condemned, some thanks to me :D ) for about 7 or 8 months - left in September. Lived right next to the bike shop in TF... I wouldn't never go there again! But Laughing Dog in Amherst - I liked them! Up near Greenfield there weren't too many bike commuters... its a rather odd mix of people up there actually... however I had some good rides going from Turners to Sunderland/Amherst down the 5&10 route. Never hit the bike path that goes NoHa to Amherst, but I hear its pretty cool, especially in the winter right after a snowfall. Anyway, welcome to the forums.

Got my first "adult" bike during grad school while living in Amherst, Sunderland and NoHo. God I LOVE that area. Wish I could move back some day, but career is taking me far away. I biked all around Amherst, 12 months a year, from Quabbin to Hawley. Such memories....

One of my favorite areas to ride to NoHo, Amherst. We load up the bike and just head north. We gypsy camp along the river or in the woods for the night. In the morning we stop by Kathy's for something to eat. Sometimes we ride to Greenfield before heading home. If I have more time and want to climb a few hills I'll ride over route 2 to North Adams Ma. It's just a great area to ride. My longest ride I ever did was from my house in East Windsor, CT to Greenfield Ma. and back (224.8 miles) But that was many years ago :)
