Not quite. Still...
Been playing around with my new bike mounted Action Cam so I had to go try this out.
I figure the odds of my ever riding the real Alpe D'Huez are pretty slim.
In fact, I doubt I'll ever do a real climb like our local Mounts Diablo or Tamalpais so I just do what I can and carry along a big imagination with me.
My regular local loop is a run down to the south end of town and back.
Pretty much mostly flat until you get to the turnaround, then you have to go over what I call the "Linda Mar Grade". Linda Mar Bump might be more like it. There are 2 options: straight up and over or you can take the Rockaway MUP. This little gem, maybe about 1/4 mile at a 7% average or so, has about 12 or 13 hairpins to follow as it parallels the highway (which looks a lot steeper when you see it in the background than I thought it was). Everytime I go up this route, I can't help but think it's like a mini Alpe D'Huez with all its twists and turns. Seems like there's always one more turn... then another... and another. It's a lot of fun.
