Mountain Biking - Rock Shox Domain Recall

Sorry if this was posted previously.

-- About 175 bicycles with RockShox Domain 302 and 318 bicycle forks, manufactured in Taiwan and imported by SRAM LLC of Chicago, because the forks can detach from the bicycle frames. The company has received one report of a minor injury in the United States and two international reports of incidents that didn't cause injuries. Note: specific nature of the recall is that the steel steerer can crack, allowing the fork and frame to part company.

Why you would lock a thread relevant to mtbs only and bury it in some obscure subforum is beyond me. Thanks FP for pointing out that foolishness. Siu, I hope you've learned your lesson.

I locked it because there is a place for recalls. And there are SOME people that won't come on here to look for things because they might get slammed. *ahem* Not mentioning names or anything.... but some people who will buy an old bike and want to know if there was a recall on it can look for issues all in one place. Like that 10 year old Shimano Crank recall that is still being honored. :thumb:

I guess I understand your compulsion to cubbyhole, but potential fork/steerer tube separation is kind of important if you're running that fork _right now_. Your fancy little recall forum is fine, but with the current forum structure, it isn't even classified as cycling related. This is a safety matter - think of the children, Siu, think of the children!!!!

To be honest, I think a recall notice on a mtb related object would be seen a lot more in the mtbing forum than it would be in news and announcements.

To clarify for anyone who may be freaking out about riding on their Domain fork:

302 and 318 model Domain forks made between March 08 - October 08 with steel steer tubes are affected. Don't go wigging out if you got one before or after that, or with an alloy steer tube, people.

It only applies probably to four specific bikes that came with or spec'd as options with one of those models of Domain:

Transition Bottle Rocket (if you selected the low-buck build)
Rocky Mountain Flatline 1
Rocky Mountain Slayer SS350
Rocky Mountain Slayer SS396
