There should be about 4 million threads on either bike. Why not read up?
Also, my brother ordered a Windsor hour because bikesdirect was out of his size on the kilo. You may want to check that first unless you are buying elsewhere.

I understand there's a million, but I want to buy tonight. Both bikes are in stock..

Just thought I would ask really quick.

go for the kilo. Looks better, and tighter geometry. Unless you want more road geometry, in that case, get the Hour.

Get the Hour because it has a cooler name.

"I ride a Windsor the Hour"

or

"I ride a Mercier Kilo TT"

Word.

Haha, based on the name... nice one.

Should've done your homework before you asked your question. Impulse buys are a bad idea.

Skooongie

Impulse buy only because I need the bike cheap, and fast.

I've read up on both of these bikes, problem is I am indecisive. Both seem about even to me, honestly.

I guess it's the frame and color that really have me torn.

I have a kilo and my friend has the hour. Every time he sees my bike, he mentions how the welds are much cleaner than his hour.

Bottom line, you really cant go wrong either way.

I was poking fun at your "I have the money" inclusion in the title to this thread. It's not like you've saved up an obscene amount of money to get a really nice something-or-other.

"I have the money, now where can I get a ball-point pen?"

depends on the frame of reference.

theyre no luxury rides but, in the grand scheme, nice bicycles. its the rider not the ride, and enjoy!

Well guys, I just ordered the bike about an hour ago.

Will they be contacting me with an email, tracking # etc.?

jmio
01-08-09, 03:06 PM
you'll get an email with a bunk ***** tracking number, I had to contact them for the real one but it was not that much of an effort. wait, you did get the kilo right?

The Mercier is a much nicer looking bike. I have a Mercier, and have no complaints. I thought "the hour" looked lie a cheap Huffy or something.

I've had mine for some time now and I like riding that better than my 3400 dollar road bike, kinda upsetting, but fixed gear is what I like now.

have fun! the rider makes the ride. the ride never makes the rider.

that said. id like to see what youd do with three and a half long put toward a fixed gear.

the rider makes the ride. the ride never makes the rider.

But the rider has to like riding the ride in order to enjoy the ride.

its great that some people will endlessly strive for the best, but sometimes, if its working, take a moment and just smell the roses. think positive; youll be dead soon!

you'll never get out of this life alive. hahaha cheesy I know. I didn't pay that much for my bike(ebay is a wonderful thing) I'm still in college, I could never afford that for a bike, nor will I ever pay that much for a bike when I do get that fab job

Ahhh, can't wait. Still, no email from Bikesdirect, but that's not bothering me too much right now.

It's going to show up one day, I hope. The sooner the better because I hate taking damn buses knowing the time I wait for them is time spent riding!

i have a recurring nightmare in which im forced to ride a bikesdirect. the inability of the bicycle to be enjoyable is both agonizing and completely its fault! i pray you never befall this tragic fate.

i've been exactly where you were, OP. and in the last 3-4 months that i've had my bike and been on this forum i've seen a million different people needing other's opinions to help them decide between the two. Honestly, they are both cheap bikes, in the world of bicycles in general, but they are both great value for money. I was going to sell my windsor hour after i bought my $1300 Jamis Aurora Elite touring bike, but the windsor is definitely still fun in a totally different way. i cant believe how fast and fun it is for $300, albeit the frame on my Jamis is sooooooo much nicer but hey, a bike is a bike.
have fun with ur Kilo, you wont regret your purchase. just try not to spend too much money upgrading a cheap bike.

A little update-

The box had a huge hole in it and I could see the rim. Other than that, everything looks good.

More pictures to come.
