I'm pretty much giving myself an ulcer trying to decide between an Eno hub (for a Surly Long Haul Trucker) or having my LBS cut off and replace the rear drop out with something nice like a stainless steel Waterford drop out. In the later case, I'm worried about frame fatigue.

I'd appreciate any input anyone has on the Eno hub (durability, installation, etc.)

eno is probably better.
waay better.
why would you do that and not just sell the frame and get a surly that's made to be singlespeed?

the wrench at the lbs i frequent has one, and he only rocks the heavy duty type stuff. If he trust it, i do to.

I'm curious about this too.

I've only read positive things about the Eno hub online... but the one actual person I've met who tried it said he had problems with it slipping (rotating, I guess) in the vertical dropout. Just FWIW.

Yes. Works beautifully. Only slippage I experienced with mine was with initial setup - figuring out how tight it needed to be in order to not slip. It's not so tight that there is any difficulty undoing things when needed.

It's perfect for a vert drop frame that you have already/really like and want to run fixed or single speed without a tensioner.

Be aware that the nature of the eccentric may alter some bike geometry a bit, but not by a drastic amount.

I've got one on my fixed mtb. It's an excellent hub. Workmanship is top notch and it's so easy to get the tension just right. I think I actually prefer this method of tensioning to track ends or horizontal dropouts. Go for it. You'll dig it.

Fixed/SS LHT? Hotness. Post pictures when you're done.

I have the ENO

If you really need to fix the LHT (or another vertical dropout frame) the ENO is the best choice, BUT I personally don't like it very much.
I find difficult to adjust the chain tension and sometimes it slips (on alluminium dropouts)
