Where is the best place to buy/sell road gear on the internet? I know about Ebay, but some stuff is priced way too high and it seems that some fools bid items way to high. On the other hand I see somestuff that is priced within a few bucks of dealer cost. Anyway, where else should I check?

No experience with it myself, but I've heard good things about the classifieds on roadbikereivew.
If you are looking for used, try roadbikereview.com classifieds.

I've have very good luck with Roadbike Review's classifieds. I've also bought and sold quite a bit on the news group "rec.bicycles.marketplace". I've also bought off of Ebay and got some really good deals that way.
You just really need to know what you're looking for and then be ready to buy fast if a good price comes up as that stuff goes really quick. I've gotten some killer deals from all of the above but the timing has to be right.

Just recently I bought a brand new topeak trunk/pannier, got an awesome deal on it. You come across good deals.. Keep in mind something you may be looking at on their may be cheap locally, however more expensive where the other bidder is, and also some people go by retail prices set by factories and don't bother researching.. Personally I don't bid, I just like to use "Buy It Now" saves alot of trouble, and the whole waiting to see if you won... I know a couple people who got a really good deal on complete bikes on there too..

The shilling on Ebay is insane. Ebay is a business and people are treating it like this by shilling the prices up. I was bidding on sofware the other day and watched the shills take the price to almost retail. After several failed attempts, I was contacted by the shills who offered to make me a "copy" of the software they were selling since I wouldn't participate in the outrageous bidding. Needless to say, I did not buy this bootlegged software.

CRAIGSLIST! (http://craigslist.org) i got my pinarello on there last year for $300...err, excuse me, $299. depending on where you live in CT, you could check out the providence, NYC, boston, or maybe even philly sections of CL. there are usually some pretty decent deals, and it's (generally) a really honest, decent community of people who use it.

Craigslist is really good because its local and you can check out the stuff first hand...and there is no shipping to pay. But ebay is where the action is, since it reaches the most people, sellers like to list there. So if you're looking for something special and hard to find, you're going to have better luck on ebay. But buyer beware!! That goes for any online site. I like to use paypal with my credit card (paypal likes you to pay directly from your bank, but your credit card offers more protection...don't think that paypal will watch your back, they have alot of rules before they will get your money back for you, it just takes one phone call for the credit card company to take action).
I've bought and sold things on ebay, you can find some really cool things there, but be sure to ask questions and read carefully what you're bidding on. There are many times things get bid up, but thats the free market for you...do your research and know what you're willing to pay for it, and if it goes above that, there is always another one up for sale. ;)

Agree - eBay CAN be great, but be careful. I saw a Litespeed being sold by a used car dealer with a great rating. The guy said they had gotten them from Litespeed on a trade for a car. Right. Turns out the car dealer's legitimate account had been hijacked by a scammer.
I did buy my Litespeed on eBay - after calling the bike shop and talking to them.
