Hello,
What is a good tire pressure for general off-road trail riding? I have a Specialized Rockster in the front that's rated at 35-80 psi and a Specialized Ground Control in the rear rated at 35-65. I've always just filled them to the higher number, I keep thinking "Higher pressure equals less rolling resistance", which is ok for pavement I suppose but what would you recommend for off-road use?
Thanks.

I run 35 or so. Depending on the bike and terrain. Almost never higher.
Depends on conditions and of rider weight. if I ran 35 like Maelstrom with my conditions and current weight I would most certainly snake bit the tires and probably damage my rims at some point. Therefore I run 45 to 50 psi.

Wow... those pressures seem high. Maybe I ought to rethink my tyre pressures because I'm running in the mid to low 20s for rocky and rooted singletrack. Think I should up my pressure? I'll jump to the 40s if it's mainly hardpack and fireroads however. I'm anywhere between 140lbs to 150lbs depending on how soon after the winter you talk to me.

I used to run ~22 PSI -- I liked it. However I like the effeciency and rock solid feedback of high PSI.

It depends on if you have front shock or not. 35-45 without and 40- 50 with.

Higher pressures for suspension is correct. Also adjust for tyre width. 1.95 at 45/50. 1.8 at 55/60. but a 2.1 at 40 will drag
