Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Took the long way home tonight (sing with me ~ supertramp.. take the long way home... take the long way home..). Guy in a ford excursion with texas plates (I'm in CA) honked at me. He's forgiven, no bike lane, driving a big truck, part of the city he's not familar with ~ I'm a patient guy.. Probably honked to get my attention cause he thought I couldn't hear him coming. That and when I looked over: the steering wheel was having trouble with his stomach.

Anyhooo.

Behind him in a while panel van: I get a second honk. And a swerve over, with a honk. This guy is a local buisness man. This, pisses me off. And as I look there's a number on the back of the van. I get the first 3 in my head, and then I catch him at the light and get the last four. I plug it into my phone for later. His van is for a heating and plumbing company. Needless to say, I caught the name, but for the life of me, it starts with a P and sounds italian. That's all I can remember. Guess Momma didn't raise that smart a boy with me, eh?

Anyhooo.

So, I get home. And I've been calling. It was one of two numbers on the van. First it rang off the hook. Then, it popped with "the cellular customer you have called is out of the area or has turned...".
I've looked through the phone book with no matching similars. I ran the number on search engines and it comes up with nothing. I would REALLY like to call this company and let them know thier employee is doing really idiotic things on the roads, and that I really didn't appreciate it. And that I now know for sure who won't be installing the new high efficency heater we were gonna get with our tax return.

Question is, if he keeps the phone off for a long time, I'm stuck. I'll banter for a few weeks, but, I'd REALLY like to get through to them sooner than latter.

How to find who's phone number a number is?

Now, subnote: I will not post the number here, cuase I don't want any band wagon stuff going on. Just want some assistance in getting a hold of his company so I can let them know how I'm not appreciative.

Thanks, if any one can.

In my line of work (collections), we use "accurint" all the time with good results: there is a minimal cost. Also, if that business phone # is fairly new, it won't be picked up by anything available to the general public. Try the $ .25 basic search. Don

Go to google and search the phone number.

It's scary how anyone with a phone number can find where you live.

Sorry, but if they are unlisted your search will not return any results.

I use anywho.com funny you should say anyhooo so frequently because it works for me. Problem is if the number is unlisted you won't get diddly. You can search by name or category like yellow pages. And you can do reverse look-up by typing in the area code and number. It is an AT&T site but I would imagine the other phone giants, SBC or whoever you may use should have the same.

We don't know that the company he's looking for is unlisted, do we?

Anyway, I'm unlisted but google still shows my address.

You could try here.

http://yp.yahoo.com/

Change the location of where you want to look and what type of business it is and try it that way. It should give you a list of companies and hopefulley one on the list may seem familiar to the one you saw on the van.

It wouldn't make much sense for a BUSINESS to be unlisted... especially a plumber... I'm sure they are in there.

411.com is good for this type of thing sometimes.

In Google you can search for the 10 digit phone number and receive a name, but it does not work with cellular numbers.

Thanks. I had a long and productive chat with the man on Saturday morning.

God, I hate to use the phone information. They are so impatient.Give you one chance, no feedback. Better know precisely how the number is listed or you have wasted $1.10.
I use internet people searches whenever possible.
