Great Lakes - Cleveland Area BF'ers meet n drink

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anyone up for a BF meet up in a weekend or two? Maybe at a sports bar somewhere for a few beers and dinner or if preferred we could do it here at my house and watch some bike movies or races ......
Thoughts?
I live in toledo, work in cleveland on weekends, too bad the weather = crap for riding we could all meet up and ride.

Better weather is only 10 weeks away....

The dinner and beers sounds good. If you would ever come out to Medina Co. to ride you could have already done that! Watching biking movies with a bunch of guys would creep out my wife more than learning our son shaves his legs.

I really have tried....:( Between the weather and family schedules it just hasn't worked out but hopefully once the weather breaks Ill make it out to ride with you guys. Please keep me on the email list though!!
I was thinking for a meet up place that Winking Lizard in Peninsula would be good but maybe a little out of the way for many of the members...

Then again, your son does half iron mans at 25 mph. :twitchy:
Is a ride included with this get-together?

That's 24.56 mph. I thought it was the wheels.

I was thinking no, just a mid winter get together. We could plan a ride before hand for those who want to though then meet back at a restaurant afterward. All depends on the weather.

At this point in winter, I'm fair game for any conditions. I just had an interesting thought.....what if we were to have a trainer party at your house, as you have suggested before? I don't know how big your basement is....depending on how many people show up, not everyone may fit.....hmmm....just a thought.

I am always game for that. My only concern is that I am pretty far west from many of you guys. I was thinking about meeting somewhere more conviniant but my house would be fine by me....

The Cornerstone Brewery in Berea is cyclist friendly.
gary, If the details work out I'll surely be there. Saturday night, would be great.
Fatheads Microbrewery on rt.252 and Lorain rd. near the metroparks will be opening soon.
Might be a good choice in the future due to the fact you all seem to ride the park system.

I could be convinced. If it's beer and food, There is a winking Lizard on Rockside Rd in Independence, right off of I-77 and I-480.
If it's a trainer ride, well I can't be dropped. :roflmao2:
does everyone that's responded know each other? Am i out of a loop? lol

Everyone who is in the area and is a BF member is in the loop. Most of us have met before but not all.

Hey Gary,
Great idea! Count me in if it is this weekend. Next, if Saturday only. We are going to the Monsters game next Sunday. The bar scene will be fine, as there probably isn't enough room in your area for a trainer party. If we go to a spot, we should at least wear a cycling jersey or something that says we have a common bond and goal other than just getting toasted. How many can you accomodate?
Would be nice, however, to do something athletic.
And Colleen, you coming is an inspiration to the rest of us whom hope to get married some day; and get a wife whom not only is cool, fun, intelligent, beautiful, saved, and a mother who doesn't look like she had 4,
but one who is a cyclist. Who could ask for more? Maybe we can talk our hope-to-be wives, girlfriends, mistresses, woman on the side,... into coming too!:thumb:

Is this location doable for all? It seems pretty centrally located for everyone. Thoughts?

I'm in, and it's on my side of town. When?
You better call them though, sometimes they have groups there from the soccer teams. Can get pretty crowded.

Well, I can get into a Winking Lizard, so that's good. I'm game.
If it were at the Winking Lizard in Peninsula, I'd probably ride down and show you guys what my college education has provided me (an uncanny ability to drink ;) )

I *THINK* Peninsula is to far in the boonies for most people to show. Maybe come spring we can do a group ride out of there though....

Next Saturday would be fine. And thanks for considering me. :)
Yeah I figured Peninsula was too far away. No biggie.
And stump: I'm outta here in May thankfully. Class of 09 baby.
Colleen, Tina will be there! Hey Chip how about you and Cheri? OH! and any other significant others as well. We can all plan some summer rides, like the ABC or Sweet corn challenge.

[I]'ll be there!
Next Saturday is fine, just make it late in the evening; say around 6 or 7'ish. We are going to the monster truck event during the afternoon, and the eve makes it a full day. Them in the early, and to wax off the effects of having to corral the kinders, an evening with you all!

I know the feeling. I went through a gang of colleges, before finally landing there, due to being in the USAF. I actually registered and got all my books while still in Germany. Kent was the balm! The best things other than the great education, smooth professors, and the massive parties were the fright night stuff. Screwey Lewies, 10th frame, man what a rush. Kent actually offered bicycling as an elective, but stupid me didn't want to drive all the way there just to cycle. Now, I would give a leg to take cycling in college. They learned all the trails/roads out by Kent.:thumb:

Hey Gary,
Just checking on the status of the event, and saw your post. What action are you waiting on?
Also, most, and this is just me speaking, are waiting to see the when and where of the event. It is hard to say yea or nay without the forementioned being posted. So...give the particulars so that we can attend!

A true Cleveland fridge would have some meats from the Lansing area or West 25th street market.
And on the liquid side maybe it would be closer to MD 20/20, Wild Irish Rose, or some of the old school stuff that cannot be found anymore like Boonesfarm, Spinada or some items like that. However, In the spirit of change for the cause, would accept the fridge as duely presented on the forum!

A true Cleveland fridge owner would never call it the 'West 25th street market'

1000 Pardons!
The West Side Market.
One has to be politically correct, and for those whom have never been there to let them know its location!
Wondering though, I did not hear any rebuttal over the selection of the kind-of-sewer selections on the liquid list.
