Has anyone heard from KPUG he lives right on the banks of the Puyallup river. We are good in my part of Sumner as the part of the Puyallup that has flooded is at a much lower elevation than we are. I haven't seen it this bad ever, even in 1996 when there were records set. I think this is going to be much worse according to the news. Stay safe everyone you are in my prayers

Thanks for checking in stringbreaker!

We've got others in Orting and Puyallup, and don't forget Centralia and Chehalis dwellers. Hope you get out of this mess safely!

I didn't run into any serious trouble on my commute, but the Cedar River in Renton looked like it was over the sidewalks when I came over the bridges. Sideways rain and lots of it. It's nice to be home.

Howdy!
As SB said I live right on the Puyallup.....It's close and moving REALLY fast! I packed essentials and got as much stuff off of the floor as I could. I grabbed the work truck if I need to make an escape. It's got about 8 feet to come up to get in my yard so if it gets within 2 I'm high tailing it outa here!
Here's hoping for the best!:thumb:

Cheers!

Kelly that river hasn't even crested yet might be a good idea to get out now while you can. Godspeed good buddy

Ya......It's supposed to crest at 4am. I'm a night owl so I'll chill for a bit. It's got a ways to go still. I've got a spot marked on the bank so if the water hits it I'm out......
No worries! Except for all my bikes and parts!:twitchy:

Besides...I REALLY don't wanna spend the night at my GF's parents house.

I'm up on Redmond Ridge, so I'm alright; but my commute takes me along the Sammamish River Trail, and it won't be much longer before it's up over the banks in low lying spots like Wilmot Gateway Park near the 522 exchange. Last year that intersection was under 18" of water for 2 days; I can see that happening again if we keep getting rained on.

Stay dry kpug. Hope things don't get too ugly down there for you. I've got a couple of coworkers from Puyallup... Wonder if I'll see them this morning?

I am a 1/2 mile from the Snohomish but high enough up from the river I won't have to worry. Not so for my freinds who live on Ebby Island, Sulton or Alington. I helped one of them get her horses up to the Monroe Fairgrounds last night and all her tractors ect into Everett. I was very suprised how un scathed I came out of yesterdays comute. The bike Gods were smilling doown one me. The only real rain I experianced was on my afternoon commute , and it was not really that bad.

The river got REALLY close and was moving super fast but it didn't get into my yard.....The people a couple houses down from me? Not so lucky. Kinda makes me think about moving.

Hope everyone else out there were able to stay warm and dry!

Good to hear your house made it through the night! Stay safe all, and please don't drive through the closed road signs!

i'm in sumner and in good shape. i helped with sandbagging at some houses on the puyallup river yesterday but unfortunately, it looks like those homes didn't fair so well.
what a mess. i imagine that it'll be months before the foothills trail from just south of orting to south prarie is completely cleaned up from the mud and repaired.the section from meeker(puyallup) to orting is fine, tho.
glad to hear everyone reporting in so far came out okay.

I talked to Brian about an hour ago and he told me they were fine. No water and downtown Orting isn't under floodwater. I guess some of the housing developments North of the downtown got some flooding but he didn't know how bad. His son was driving around to see what was going on.

I drove into downtown Snohomish today at about noon, crossing over the river on Airport Road from Hwy 9. The Snohomish (still rising at that time) was already lapping at the backs of some of the buildings in the old antique district. This is on the route of the Flying Wheels Summer Century. At the end of the old town district, the FW route turns right on Lincoln before descending across the valley to become the Old Snohomish-Monroe Road. There were several houses on Lincoln that were flooded out already. There was a man standing on his front porch, waiting for the SFD to bring a dinghy out for him. He seemed to be in a good humor. KIRO TV had a remote there.

It sounds like Hwy 9 has subsequently been closed across the valley. 522 should be nice-n-crowded tonight.

I had occasion to go over to Enumclaw yesterday--what a mess!

On the hill, though, I'm good.

Glad to hear that everyone is all right so far.

I would like to mention that if anyone is expecting any mail from Eastern Washington or vice versa--forget it! Passes are all closed, and the only way the mail is leaving is if it gets on a plane.

I am in Buckley and fortunately we did not get any flooding around us. Some of the roads had a few inches of water on them (by Lake Tapps) but they did not even postpone school. My kids were disappointed. 2 of my kids were suppose to start ski/snowboarding school tomorrow with there schools, but that has been canceled.

Man I'm waiting for somthing in the mail from the coast, I hope it makes it today! On the other hand, who cares, as long as you folks on the west side are ok! We have some flooding North of us and a bit of water on some of the roads here but we're in good shape here around Moses Lake. Take care folks.

happy to report that the orting foothills trail came out much better from the flooding than i'd anticipated- the trail is in very good condition all the way from meeker(puyallup) to approx 3-1/2 miles south of orting (past "the animal farm" hill)just a few hundred feet beyond the junction with the South Prarie-Carbon River road. the trail is blockaded at the bridge-no idea if there's damage to it or a closure from debris and muck over the trail.

Wow.

That's a lot of water! I am so glad that everyone here seems to have escaped the worst of it.
