Greetings all,

Thinking about buying a Garmin Edge 305, maybe even a 705. I have been looking at the voluminous threads on Garmin and a question comes to mind:

If I buy online, or via ebay, are there any model versions, or serial number ranges, or part numbers to avoid in the Edge 305/705 line?

I get the impression that there were problems early on with both models. From the threads it seems these were mostly firmware issues (??). But, were there any early models of these that had specific hardware issues that one should avoid? Buying on the cheap (!) may be getting an earlier model that one should avoid? Or, as long as you are getting a new, unused model, there is no problem and you can get all the necessary upgrades via Garmin?

Any help would be appreciated.

Be blessed.

Software/Firmware updates are free for ALL Garmin units. As far as I know there are no serial number ranges to avoid for either.

i have a 305 for sale in the for sale forum - 110.00 w/ heart rate monitor and w/o cadence sensor. This price includes shipping. I LOVED this device, but got a 705 recently. my 305 works fine.
