Manufacturer, Retailer, Survey and Consumer Feedback - Bad products and atrocious customer service!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

One of my favourite places to buy things is at my local Mountain Equipment Co-op. They have great products, excellent staff, a great retail philosophy and excellent customer service. However, I have found that dealing with other companies can be a big pain in the butt!

My worst experience so far has been with Topeak/Todson products and their customer service.
Today I tried to contact them about a faulty mount on a bag and I have spent close to an hour trying without success to fine a contact that works and will offer customer service to non-Americans as I found a contact but I had to be an American in order to contact them! So does anyone have the e-mail contact info for Topeak/Todson as their website is lacking this important information?

Oh and which companies do you hate dealing with?

Gordon p

Where are you located? Here's a list of their distributors - try dealing with yours:

for what it's worth, i've had several good customer support experiences with Topeak/Todson...i'm in the US though.

Hi I'm in Canada and the Canadian link did not work and the Norco website does not have an e-mail or telephone contact so I will try by mail. It should not have to be so hard to make contact with them and they should have a central distributer. I will not but a Topeak product again!
Thanks,
Gordon p

There's a phone number for Norco at the link I posted, but whatever..statements like "they should have a central distributer" make me think you're not being quite rational.

No, I'm not irrational just frustrated that I have wasted so much time on the lack of Topeak customer service, which should be a normal part of a business transaction. I did call the telephone number and did not get a response, I called again this afternoon (time difference) and they seemed surprised that I called about a Topeak product and told me to go to the shop I bought it from and I bought it in a different city. So I went to my LBS and they were kind enough to give me one and they had no obligation to do so. So I guess it is a good idea to support your trusted LBS!

Thanks Slynkie for the motivation.
Gordon

Somewhere in this forum, there is another Topeak thread. I'm sure of it.
