Foo - What mags do you read?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Popular Science

The Ensign
None at the moment. I used to read all sorts of computer mags, Linux ones mostly. Computer Shopper (http://computershopper.com/) was a must have subscription back in the day. Now I get all info I need on the internets.

None really, any more.
I used to read:
Popular Science (probably longest subscription)
Omni
Rolling Stone
Archeology
Biblical Archeology
Playboy (great articles)
I liked Popular Science way back when. Omni, too. That was a good read.
Family Handyman
Texas Monthly
Archeology, that's gotta be cool.
I read Rolling Stone & Spin, back in the day, just aren't the same, I think. Kinda a letdown.
Foreign Affairs & Intelligence Report, too.
Journal of the American Chemical Society
Angewandte Chemie, International Edition
Nature
Science
Organic Letters
Chemical Communications
Tetrahedron Letters
Chemistry Letters
Journal of Organic Chemistry
Chemistry, a European Journal
Chemistry, an Asian Journal
Synthesis
Synlett
There's some more that I really should read (notably Journal of Antibiotics), but I'm too lazy. Some of them might get added soon, though. It doesn't help that we don't get J. Antibiot. online at my institute. This list is a work in progress, and one of my goals for 2009 is to have a systematic approach to covering this list of literature reading, and I plan to put together a reading schedule by the end of the week.
Bicycling
National Geo
Food&Wine
Scientific American
Wine Spectator

Omni is still being published?!? I left it for dead almost 20 years ago.
jschen - haven't you heard? All work and no play makes Jack a raving lunatic from a Steven King novel.
ok, so I'm exaggerating, but there is more to life than chemistry. :)

Cosmo (I read it for the tips on how to please my lady) God forbid they tell us what they like.

I think that is a "used to". I had it for several years. I also remember they tried to name it "Nova". PBS sued and won.

As much as I have to read on the job, I don't commit myself to any regular reading outside of work. That doesn't mean no play... just no reading schedule.

Right now, the only magazine I read regularly is Small Arms Review.
None really, other what is laying around in the doctors/dentists office - and basically all that experience is turning pages, looking at the pretty pictures then look at the watch ...

Whew. I was thinking it had morphed into "Modern Vampire"
Jason - I'm relieved - however, outside of academia, very few people get paid to read magazines. Let's just say I'm a teensy bit jealous of that aspect of things.

I used to read GQ, Guitar Player and various other stuff....but no time/reduced interest these days

I leave my old bike mag issues in Dr.s offices and whatnot. From when we were going and doing my wife's prenatal care...you can only read so many issues of Parenting & People before you think, man, there gotta be other poor suckas in here with nothing cool to read, though I do read Parenting & Baby Talk, etc.

I'm letting my 20 year subscription run out - I'll sign up again for their online access. Pissed that they charge me twice/extra for that after all the years I've been buying the mag:notamused:
that said, I love that mag. Especially the inside back cover stuff.:D
I used to get The Nation and National Review...I figured the truth was in the middle...
I tried that too but the NR kept pissing me off.

Cycle Sport
Pro Cycling
Road Racing World (motorcycle racing)
Road Racer X (motorcycle racing)
I dont have a subscription to any of these, I just pick them up on occasion when there's something in them worth reading. I tend to like professional racing publications (like Cycle Sport) more than enthusiast publications (like Bicycling). Same with the motorcycle magazines, I gravitate toward racing rather than enthusiast fare.
