Tandem Cycling - Picture this....

I had to get my tandem to my LBS, but I also needed to get back home...solution?...EASY!!

I simply hitched up my BoB trailer, removed both wheels from my solo roadie, wrapped frame and wheels in a blanket, tied all down with bungees, then off I road...problem solved!!
On the way into town I got the usual comment.." Two people should be riding that!!" and enough stunned motorists' stares to last a lifetime. So.....when I got into town, I reassembled my roadie, hitched the BoB to that, packed the blankets and backpack into the BoB Drysak, then wheeled my tandem into the shop for it's service. As I was getting all this happening I had one guy stop with a puzzled look wondering how the hell did I ride two bikes at once..........Ah, the lunacy of cycling

2 bikes at once?
Am originally from Europe and it was not uncommon to see someone riding their singe bike one handed while holding on to the bar of another bike, without a rider on it.

I've done that too, Rudy, whilst riding my wife's hybrid and trying to steer my highly modded Raleigh 20 bike up and down some steep hills near home...gave me another meaning to the word pain

I remember being a little boy in my hometown down in central/western Mexico, that a guy will ride by with a huge container resting on his head. In the container the guy carried bread for sale from house to house. The terrain was rough cobblestone. The container had the shape of a huge sombrero which was strong enough to support what must have been more than 25 lbs. of bread. How did he mount/dismount/start/stopped? I do not remember.

At the first bike shop I worked at, there was a storage unit opposite the shop. When we needed to transport bikes from storage to the shop, we would ride one over while holding onto a second to speed things up. You can do a really easy track stand using the second bike to hold you up too and two people can use each others bikes the same way at stops to keep from unclipping even if they can't hold a track stand on their own.

Talking about track standing....I can do this no problem at traffic lights etc, and I've noticed others usually stand while I stay seated and balancing. However, like most riders, I've made an idiot of myself by losing balance, failing to unclip and falling over during peak traffic in front of alot of people :roflmao2:
