Pretty much sums it up...
But, not everyone's a jerk...just the ones who think they are better than they truly are. And if the racers around them are any good, there is a way to take care of that.

I don't know why I just thought of this:
We were lined up before the start of a very rural road race and getting the usual pre-race instructions when the race director let us know that there had been a pack of wild dogs spotted in the area. Everyone kinda looked at each other. I remember thinking that maybe that was what i needed to pull off a decent sprint. It was a hilly course and I got dropped shortly. I've never felt so alone.

Ummm...it was sarcasm using the actions of the people who, at races typically think they are pretty good and are truly not very good at all....but you still have to deal with them...
what part of that didn't you get???
