Hey,
I'm a newbie: just had my ride stolen and wanted to ask folks to keep an eye out. It's a black Brompton folding bike and was stolen on Monday, Jan 5th in front of the Dodge YMCA on Atlantic Ave. in Brooklyn, just E of Court St. I was in the gym from 6:30-8pm and my bike was one of two nabbed: they broke my U-Lock and snipped some other guy's cable. Distinctive features: a cracked taillight fixed with clear packing tape, a piece of scotch tape on the top tube, a tag from NYCEwheels. I know I'm probably pissing in the wind here, but any info would be appreciated: jallred@gmail.com. Reward for any info that helps get my bike back.

Have you tried Craigslist (http://newyork.craigslist.org/bik/)?

Damn, very sorry to hear. As another Brompton owner, just wondering why you didn't just fold it up and take into the gym?

Did you register the frame serial number on Brompton's website? It might be helpful to have it handy in case you see one being sold on craigslist or ebay. They're relatively unique in NYC/Brooklyn so you might have good luck spotting it being shilled off. I'll definitely keep a look out.

Good luck.

Yeah: mostly got unilluminating snarkiness, but you never know...

Hey,
Yeah, the gym doesn't allow even the foldups, though 1/2 ton strollers are fine: go figure. It sux, since I very rarely left it outside for more than 30 mins. or so. I do have the serial # and have been trolling the sites you mention. Any idea of what local shops might be worth contacting?
