View Full Version : Good LBS in Hilton Head?

Looks like I may have a family thing in Hilton Head this May. No complaints about going there, but it will fall right in the middle of training for a couple of hard centuries. I've read elsewhere in the forums that Hilton Head is "bike trail hell". I can believe it, even though I've never been -- put "bike trail" and "tourist trap" in the same sentence and it's liable to end with "hospitalized". ;)

If possible, I'd like to find (a) an LBS where I can get a decent road bike to ride for a week and (b) a couple of nice routes in the 50-mile range. (Actually, a good LBS should be able to point me to good routes.)

All help appreciated...

Not that there have been any responses, but it's a moot point now -- trip cancelled.

Your observation of "bike trail hell" fits, based on a couple of trips I've made to Hilton Head. I'd look at other areas nearby such as Beaufort or Fripp Island if you decide to plan another trip that way.

Fripp isn't much better. Crossing Harbor River on a bike is suicide. The bridge is only 14 feet wide, rail to rail. Rode that once, hitching a ride in a pickup going back.
