I was riding back from work today and decided to do about another 10mi since the day was so beautiful so I pushed off from my apartment and hopped back on the road. I got about a block away to a tight street where there are cars lined on both sides of the road, and I heard a low rumble of a Chevy pickup, then the sound of a downshift and BWAAAAAH as the driver opened the throttle to squeeze me and undoubtedly "show me whats up".
Two can play this game.
I was push a pretty good sized gear so the second then engine opened up I clicked down two gears stood on it and got to a good spin and *BAM* big ring time! The Chevy is coming up behind me and gaining. I stand on it and hammer for all I'm worth. The Chevy is slowly gaining less... wait no, I'm pulling on him now. Stop sign. I stop, as always, in the middle of the lane since I don't like to cross with a car as some people do. The Chevy comes up behind me, and keeps inching up and revving behind me. I turn right. Hopefully there were no other cars, because the Chevy followed me through the stop. I hear a squealing of rubber behind me, and that stupid exhaust note again, and once again, the Chevy is coming up fast about 10 yards back. Big ring time, and time to really lay on the hurt... no stop sign to end my run this time. I glance back to see the Chevy preparing to move into the center turn lane to pass as I get up into the big ring again and stand on it once more. Chevy's still gaining, I'm pushing as hard as I possibly can doing about 40 at this point, and I look back and whats this? The Chevy pulled back in the lane behind me... and I'm pulling on him. Stop sign again, this time I glance back to see the Chevy has pulled into a parking lot and is making a U turn to turn around. I'm in disbelief, well, somewhat, that this idiot went out of his way to follow me just to have the satisfaction of passing me, which I couldn't let him do. I hope his girlfriend was with him.
