Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Ever since I've gotten into biking, I've wanted to move out to the country where I could leave my yard and start biking on a paved country road. Well I think I may have found it. This is approx a 4 acre property facing a very sparcely travelled, paved road. Woo Hoo!!! The property is right in the heart of farm land (gorgeous scenery). There is even a stream going through the back of the property. I'm imagining a small mountain bike trail through the trees :D
Here's the kicker, we haven't seen the property yet ... except on google and the realtor's website. The realtor said that the house is a completely remodelled, century brick & stone house. All new electrical, plumbing, furnace, windows, etc. The other kicker is simply the Economy. Hopefully my job is safe. It seems to be, however you never know.
We see it on the weekend ... can't wait!

You could certainly get out on the road and ride. But from the looks of it, you could do a full century (metric or imperial) without turning the handlebars at all or climbing more than a few feet.
Plus, the locals seem keen on building massive igloos directly on the roads. That would be weird to ride through.

Call me paranoid, but I don't want to give away my potential address (or nearby roads) over the internet. I know I live in Canada, but we don't have igloos on the roads ... they have to be at least 10 feet from the edge.
You could easily do a few centuries in that area. My work is in a city approx 20 km's from this acreage (perfect commute) but in other directions there's nothing around.

You're right. I'm just to lazy to load it back onto my computer since I reformatted the drive.

Thanks. I'll post pics on the weekend.
Hope it works out for you. Sounds like our utopian visions are closely aligned.

Is that a creek running through the property? If so, how totally awesome!

We'll have to create a fenced in section for the dogs. The road is just a bit too close. We'd let them roam around the property as long as we're out there with them, in case we need to call them away from danger.

Just ask about flooding from that creek.

Just ask about flooding from that creek.
It's well away from the flood plain. There's a river about 3 km's away from the creek and all the land we'd be on slopes downward towards the river.
Be prepared to drive everywhere.

Or skeeters. :notamused: I almost got a house with a creek in the back but there were hella skeeters. And then later that year I went by it and you can see how the owners where having an overflow thingy out to the street because if flooded. *whew!*

Just came back from seeing the house. The property was awesome ... the house sucked! It was advertised as a fully upgraded house, however all the upgrades were done very poorly. The rooms were all chopped up and small, and the basement was pretty much useless. NEXT!

May have. The realtor couldn't tell us how long they'd been living there. A bit suspicious.
