im a very new, amateur mountain biker. im 14 and hav been mountain bikin for about a year. i have a 2004 trek 4300. im havin probvlems wit my cassette and decided to replace it. im considering the Shimano XTR 8 Speed Cassette M900. will this fit my bike? if not what cassette do you reccomend?

Its a waste of money if you are a new amateur... XTR is super expensive and you save a few grams over XT. Do you really need a new cassette? It will offer no noticeable performance increase....

dont waste you money, XT is just as good, and even an XT is overkill
the sram pg-990 is just as light as the XT and around one third the price. 33$ at jensonusa.com. The 8 speed is 24$. Dont know if you like SRAM though.

thansk.
my old cassette broke. its rideable but switching gears, well i cant. one of the rings on the cassete has 2 broken teeth. and it kinda wiggles around.
i dont care about weight -- at all. im a amateur biker and a couple grams of weight means nothing to me. im looking for a good reliable cassette. one that wont break in under a year.
i may be an amateur mountain-biker, but i am still pretty rought on a bike.
(Dont ask how the teeth broke, its a long story.
So Basically i want a good reliabler cassette -- 8 speed, i dont care about weight, and really dont want to spend much
check out the reviews on www.mtbreview.com to get an "idea". Dont trust them to much because everyone is different. Some one may love a certain product while another just hates it.
