Touring - Help with size tire?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I am building up an old specialized crossroad as a commuter/tourer and the doner bike has a great pair of 700c X 38 tires. Will they fit on a standard road rim? I have as set of open pro's and a set of MA3's and was wondering how wide of a tire can I fit on those rims. Would a set of 700c x 38 be too wide or is something like a 700c x 32 about the max before you have to get a slightly wider rim? Thanks for the help?

It all depends on the interior width of the narrowest dimension of the rims. Then, just look it up on Sheldon's chart. My guess - they will be fine....
