Winter Cycling - knobby tires with a tiagra road brake?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So, this has probably come up before, and been done to death.
I want to put some wintery tires on my fixed gear road bike. will some 700x30's interfere with my front brake or will i need to use something else?
it depends on the geometry of your bike.
should be at least 35mm of space between the edge of the rim and the crown of the fork as well as at least 35mm of width between the inner edge of the fork where the tyre would be.
I know that tektro R536 brake calipers can go as large as 32mm depending on fork.

Larger volume tires may also rub the BB bridge without touching the calipers.
This is probably a trial and error exercise.
