you may have read about my cassette problem, but once thats fixed i have a few questions.

im in connecticut for almost a year cuz of my dads new job. i dont care, but the place i use to mountain bike rented mountain bikes, (they were pretty good too), that were pretty cheap. but now that im here theres only one place i think thats in New Cannaan or something that has mountain biking courses, and i dont think they rent bikes.

will my trek 4300 be able to survive going down a course, and is there any place like a site that has a list of mountain bike courses, cuz i move to a lot of different states.

also is there anyway i can find a mountain biking tutorial for technique, when my cassette brok before the guy who fixed it said if i tweaked up my technique that kind of thing wouldnt happen.

The technique he is refering to to save your cassette is to never really push your gears...always use a gear that is easy to pedal as it saves parts...

in the real world on a mountain sometimes you can't prepare for an upcoming gear change and will end up having to grind up a hill.

As for the bike. If this is a real dh course...it is gonna be tough on the bike. You will be able to ride it but it might not last a long time...it is to hard to tell as we don't know how worn the bike is already or how technical the course it (I can't tell by reading reviews because difficult and techical to some is not difficult or technical to others)...

Man, grinding gears reminds me of my last bike. The thing would never mesh right no matter what I did... I'd cry every steep ascent when the gears started skipping and messing up.
