Some kids at the school I work at started calling out at my bike when I was leaving. First call,--laughter--and then, "That is a weird bike." Next kid yelled, "Hey, cool ride." Next one hollered, "When do I get a test ride?"

Then, on the way home today, 2 groups of kids called out. First group was incomprehensible (I was going too fast), but they were all smiling and waving. Second group called out, "Cool bike!"

...Kids know a good bike better than anyone else does. :)

Most kids smile and/or say cool bike when I'm riding my recumbent. It is also neat to hear parents telling their kids to look at That Bike.:D

I don't get many catcalls over my trike. Smiles, waves and thumbs up from men over the age of 50 is most common. Second most common are children under the age of 10 screaming delightedly to their parents, "Jag vill ha en!!" (I want one!)

I ride a tadpole trike, and the time that most impressed me was when I rolled up to a light, down the curb lane. I pulled along side a car with a family inside and the young boy in the back seat called out...cool ride dude, and I just thought that was so cute. While at other times I'll hear calls that are'nt worth repeating.

I get a lot of positive comments from children and adults about my recumbent. I think it's somewhat like seeing a model T car, people don't see one everyday, so they find it novel. It is definitely a plus that you are noticed, visibility is really important to those like me who are commuters...otherwise I might get "squished like a bug!"
