I too see "faisme" in the quote. As for your original issue, what do you mean, you have no smilies?

I don't know what options you have set, so lets try this.

Open up your User Control Panel, and then select Edit Options, the very bottom option is Message Editor Interface, make sure you have the standard editor selected.
