I've had it. I've been in a crappy mood since waking. I was going to go down to MJH2's to ride the trainer for a bit to loosen up for tomorrow and I can't find the motivation to get dressed...let alone shovel the 10+ inches of snow out of the drive.

It is offical now. My LDS or whatever has finally kicked in and I officially hate winter now....again....whatever.

I didn't even get to go to Madison for the swap. Total fail.

You're a Mormon???

I shoveled the 10 inches of snow, dragged the kids up and down the street on a slet, and then watched them play with the neighbor kids on the piles of shoveled snow for a few hours. It's a good enough workout. Now it's nice to be inside where it's warm and the chili is simmering on the stove.

Get out there and shovel the stuff. Your anger will be well placed in displacing the snow. And you'll be getting something done. Then you can go door to door for the LDS. ;)

Oh yeah, I almost forgot...

Are you trying to lay bad mojo on the ice cycling industry?

Psimet2001

Snow is shoveled now. Just sick of doing it. Instead of going to Cheeselandia for some sushi and old crappy bike barts that no one wants I got to shovel, and now I get to do personal books/budgeting, clean the office, work on CyLowe's bike, core workout(s) and possibly sled/x-country ski.

If this was summer I would be riding. All day.

f'n winter.

Oh...and CyLowe....I wouldn't talk. I spun your drivetrain real quick the other night and it sounded like crap...so I take a look and I find this:

http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/3206/dsc05118em9.jpg

You routed the chain incorrectly through the rear derailleur and then rode it on the trainer for at least 45 minutes....*sigh*

Whoa a little thin skinned aren't you. You know it's only January! We have at least two, maybe three, more months of this

So, HTFU brother!

We don't have ten inches of snow here in metro Detroit, yet. We've shoveled an inch or two three times so far, and it isn't stopping. But last night as I left the hardware store with a new bag of ice-melt, I met a man arriving on his bike to buy the same thing. So I had a gainful conversation about his winter bike set-up. I've got to try this.

You need to suck it up, little man.

I did a little XC skiing last night (for the first time ever) up at a little lighted trail in Wisconsin. Just a little outside fix was enough to set me right for a while. You should try that.

Or get a little fiber in your diet. Might do a world of good.

The roadies were out and dropping hammers this morning. Cold and windy here, but I think I saw more cyclists than I do when it's nice. Christmas bikes? New Year's Resolutions? Snowbirds? I don't know, but they were out.

Time for a MTB ! I've ridden in fluff up to the hubs, deeper than that I just didn't have the power.

Don't fight it, man, winter will win every time. Come over to the dark side ... SKI !!

Am heading up to Sheboygan tomorrow for our first XC ski race of the year. Races in the AM, dog sleds in the afternoon. Woot !! :D

You get the snow but I get the damn rain here in Indy. It makes for even a colder day...not to mention the freaking wind. I've bought a bunch of gear for winter and haven't gotten a chance to freeze my ass off yet. I feel for you......

I spent a ridiculous amount of money on racing snowshoes...the highest tech snowshoe one can hope to strap on and run with ease through the deepest of snow.....probably not a ghost of a chance I'll get to use them this year. grrrrrrrr On the upside, by spring I should feel better!

If it's this cold now...wait til midweek.

How does 10 to 15 below on Thursday morning or Friday morning feel to you? Looks like another bad crap of potholes coming once it thaws again if it ever does.

Downstate missed the snow but you folks like psi got probably 10 inches and we got maybe 3 - 4 inches at most down in Jofield.

That's what I heard...total crap. I am in no mood for anything below 0 at this point. f'n Chicago.

I work in Aurora and live in Elgin so there are tons of times were it's not bad at work, but I arrive home to find 6" or more.

Oh well...did yoga in the basement. heading out to shovel for the second time today.

HAHA...yeah it usually is. I know if I would have went I would have been like "what a waste of a trip. If poor college cyclists are selling something then it's either totally used up or it's total crap."

I could have used some sushi and Sapporo though.

Snowshoe workout = just as good as biking for legs and aerobics, and new places to go. Walk up steep hill in 9 inches of snow, come down, repeat 4x. Just like hill intervals.

And yes, racing snowshoes do exist - smaller, with a tail. I've got a pair made locally in Lacrosse. Sorry you can't use yours this year Smokin'.

Don't think of it as that you can't go showshoeing, but that you instead can go cross country skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, etc.

I'm ready for it. Swapped my Look pedals for egg beaters and got me some Lake MXZ302.
Also mounted some fenders.
Took my baby out for a couple of miles today. Almost wiped out a few times on some ice, but nothing my bike couldn't handle.
This year I will not get on the rollers! I refuse!!!!

Heh. I had to work yesterday. 35 mph in, work 6 hours, 35 mph home. Bleh. Snowblowed when I got home. I'm not a big fan of shovels. However, snowblowing is my winter sport. Fire that big knarly thing up and do everybody's sidewalk! I figure that was my Saturday workout.

Today, I got tired of reading about bicycling (been surfing bf for a couple of hours) and decided to go for a ride. :winter2: I took it easy, and did probably no more than a mile, but it felt good. Exercise for the day: DONE!

edit: Snowblowed this morning as well. Exercised twice today!

Wanderer
01-11-09, 03:07 PM
I ran two gallons of gas thru the snowblower, plus the shovel work, amounted to about 12 hours playing in the snow yesterday.

Sure was nice waking up to clean driveways and sidewalks this morning.

p.s. We got more in North Aurora, than you did upriver.............

If it's gonna be cold, I'd just as soon have snow on the ground. And I'm a little whacked...I actually enjoy shoveling, for the exercise. At least it gets me outside and doing something. Broke out the snowshoes for an hour yesterday. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy doing that. Looks like they may get a lot of use in the near future. No thaw in the forecast. Not really into cross country skiing, but might have to fit in a weekend trip to WI for some downhill.

I'm across Lake Michigan from you here in the lake effect snow belt near Grand Rapids Michigan. Our winter average snowfall is about 73 inches. We are already at 75 ish inches.

So let me see...remove the front wheel and bungee cord and zip tie the snowblower to the fork....and then begin pedalling down the driveway...no no no....start the snowblower first.....then begin pedalling down the driveway!!!!

Man we're getting clobbred now. I hate driving home in this stuff mainly because as I head North the worse it gets. That and people STILL don't know how to drive in this stuff. They ride the brakes all the way down hills only to spin out as they try to climb up the opposing hill.

Can't tell you how many SUVs with 4WD I went flying past. Ahhh....snow tires.
