I'm looking for feedback on which to purchase. They're roughly the same price...but which is better for the buck? Is there a better choice out there that I haven't seen?

With the Raleigh you get some great components. With a Cannondale you get a wonderful frame. You make the choice. I'd chose the Cannondale, because the frame is the heart of the machine. You can always upgrade your components later and at an affordable pace.

If you gotta have aluminum, check out Specialized Allez...better ride than your 2 choices and Ultegra components to boot. I got mine from Supergo for $750 reg. $1300-$1500.

I prefer steel and have a TREK 520 touring bike...it's a luxury ride compared to aluminum ... my new alum bike was the best ride for a minimum cost .

Check out TREK they have a lot of choices and price ranges. Make sure you check out fit and ride REAL GOOD and compare components! Let me know...See ya.

Which one is more stylish? Do pro's ride Raleigh's?

I tend to agree with kespokes the allez is a wikedly fast machine the steel ones always snapped like toothpicks and were abit flexy out of the saddle, but if one was willing to stay seated speed was never a problemm, I now have a specilized allez aluminum and do not know how that will preform.

Cannondales are tough as nails though,I own 2 besides the specialized one touring and one M.T.B. and I would not trade them for anything and would love to get a road bike cannondale. I had a friend that bought one used with the chainstay have chewed through and I thought forsure the frame would snap, that was 5 years ago and he is still riding it. That is what convinced me to go Cannondale, They will take heavy abuse and function great for many years.

I would go with the bike with the better frame... I got caught in that trap and ended up buying a new bike the following year.

BUT... C'dale doesn't list an R300 on their site.. is it an older model? What frame is it? a CAAD3? CAAD4? What component group does it have?

There are many ultra-stylish bikes that aren't ridden by the pro's. And some of the pro's ride rather ugly machines. :D
